Re: Gas vs Alky........
The fuel companies are just adding oxygen content to the gas Q-16 is an exotic expensive race fuel .
I am willing to offer my car to you gas tuner guys friday at the bash to prove to me it will in fact run faster and more consistent on gas. I will supply my injection and my fuel , I also have 10 gallons of q-16. If you want it done with a carb someone will have to supply it and an electric fuel pump.
Lets settle the question and quit wondering about it .

Re: Gas vs Alky........
We run "gas" if you consider Q16 gas. It cost about $11.75 per gallon in bulk and we don't use that much. Our VE numbers are right around where NA numbers are on efficient engines. Smells aweful and it gets if your nose and mouth and you can't get it out.
I ran C16 and alky in my old junky mid eleven second maverick and the times were the same and I won a bunch of bracket races in both E and No-E and I footbraked in both. I preferred the C16 but I have buddies that love the alky.

Re: Gas vs Alky........
As Charlie mentioned....the biggest moves you will see in E.T., are usually caused by changing track temps....not by changes in DA. If you have a combo that makes big moves with the air, whether you are on gas or alky, your tune-up is wrong....period. The current Super Pro points leader at my home track is running a tunnel ram with 2 dominators on gas....car is deadly.
Again, track temp will dictate E.T. change long before a change in the air will.
To answer the OP's question....I run gas....Renegade 110.

Consistent is a good working race car that is properly driven. Which fuel is in the cell don't matter.

J.Y. , why do you always referance Q16? The facts of the matter are that most people running gas do not use it.
VP113 is bad fast gas and is $290 a barrel cheaper than the Q16. Bobby Shrewsberry used the 113 when he won the "Bash" last year..........I guess it was because his ride was inconsistent and slow

Re: Gas vs Alky........
they both are oxygenated I could buy 2 barrels of methanol with that cost savings or one barrel and a 5 gallon bucket of liquid mono-propellant

I believe the biggest reason guys use alky is so they can bring tears to their opponents eyes while sitting in the staging lanes trying to get heat in the thing!
Just give me some good ole' Sunoco 112

No trouble getting up to temp here, I use block and an oil pan heater, If I get stuck
in the lanes the primer plus will bring it up in a hurry.........I guess gas is good for that lol

Did anyone say 113 was not oxyenated? That's a good thing BTW or did you forget that methanol carrys a lot oxygen?
At only $41 a drum more than 110 it does not fit your " an exotic expensive race fuel" statement.
I have excess to the same carb Blake made the 1,003 HP with and I have repocessed my 80A-0 pump .

Re: Gas vs Alky........
Methanol is distilled at that and no oxygen additives added. All race gas is at least 3 times the cost of methanol
Are we wanting to compare plain non oxygenated gas to plain methanol or oxygenated gas to oxygenated methanol ?
I am ready to do it and quit talkin about it

injection will save the carbuu---rators reputation
I am going fishing in my gas powered boat that I just had to replace the gas hose ends because of artifically oxgenated pump gas

What does alky cost? What does M5 cost? How much fuel do you burn per pass and what is the cost per pass for fuel?
The only prices i know currently are on my buddies ride and he is running oilfield alky.
