Re: Gas vs Alky........
I guess alky is good for heat and maybe some consistency in the hot summer BUT tear that baby down and its hell on parts.
Besides there is no way alky has the nice big moan that a gas engine has. Alky is slap, slap, slap.

Re: Gas vs Alky........
alky makes um sound mean.................
This will be a good test on a better combination, we know alky makes a lesser combo a HeRo..................It will be on the Q also........................
I just have to reseal the prostar 500 "again" and make a bracket for the wot switch and its ready.................I'll piss the neighbors off this weekend and go do some testing a week from this friday.

well it runs....................I forgot how bad gas stinks lol. Actually the Q smells better unburnt....to me anyway. Sure mellowed it out.....................see what happens this friday, the weather looks decent, highs in the upper 70's w light NE winds............so the humidity should be in check as well.

Re: Gas vs Alky........
this is my thinking.............
I will add this, you get the q on ya it evaporates and has a cooling effect like methanol.

You just have to be careful with the Q on the hose. Many a headgasket have fallen victim to its charms...but when it's right, it's a thing of beauty.

Re: Gas vs Alky........
Ok, my 2 cents, limited knowledge, this is just what I have observed...
My buddy was running an iron CJ headed 500" in his dragster running in Medicine Hat at 2300 feet, usually around 5000 feet corrected. The car ran 8.60's. He switched to alky running a toilet, and the car dropped to 8.30's. I've sat in the car and warmed it for him on both gas and alky, and it felt much crisper with the alky when blipping the throttle. Possibily the tune up was wrong on gas, it's possible, he doesn't know a bunch about tuning and usually gets help with it, maybe his alky tuner was better.
2nd buddy was dynoing his 655" Indy BBD. It made a best of 1125 hp on alky with 2 toilets, we swapped fuel systems, put on 2 whiz bang domimies and pulled 1145 on C16. Can't remember the tq numbers, but it was slightly higher with the alky. It seems that after the bore gets to a certain size, gas starts making more power.
Av gas is the best smelling fuel, don't even try to argue with me on this one...
