Re: Mike Stevens Build
Just an update and some photos..
Engine is in the car and bolted down. Now making all this stuff fit.
1 small problem, as you'll see in the pics. The oil enters thru a passage at the back of the block. Of course, there is a frame rail RIGHT there, only 2" from the rail to the block surface. HMMMM... After some thought this morning, I have a plan and I will machine a fitting in the next few days..
Also check out the Oakley MotorSports valve covers !!!!

What is that kinked hose for in the pic? Looks like it goes into the pan. Nice work on the fitting. You might've been able to use an STC style fitting too. Not sure how much room you had in there though...

I played Dick Tracy on the kinked hose that you mentioned and scrolled up a few pages....
It appears to be a disconnected drain back hose from the back of the head....tucked in for a mock- up.
Let's see if I win the prize.....
That is a nice little fitting creation. Much easier than whacking the frame rail....
Re: Mike Stevens Build
Gotcha Keith. I didn't know Mikey had mad machining skills!

You win Keith. Mikey has more pull than me at Gulfstream, he has the machining skills plus he has all the machinist at work at his disposal .
Re: Mike Stevens Build
Gentlemen.......you too Doug
Keith is correct, It is one of the oil drainback lines. I had to move it, to get my fingers in the area where the fitting goes.
For his correct answer ( and kind words), A cold beverage, or 2, of his choice when we get together again..
John, 30 of my 35 years at GulfStream have been in the machine shop... I might have learned a thing or 2 over that time...lol
Part of my job, requires me to fab tools needed for repairs on the plane. Sometimes, you just have to use your imagination.
But I can't take all the credit for this one.. One of the guys at work, code named "Secret Squirrel", had a hand in this too...

Re: Mike Stevens Build
Rick,
Hopefully in the next 2 weeks..finishing up all the small details now...
Just have to get everything back in my "new to me " trailer..
I traded my 32' for a 28'.. didn't need all that room, or the extra weight with only 1 car..
