Re: Yet another 460 build......
It's got a few left in it, guessing another 15 hp for some race headers (the 2" ones are too long and have crappy collectors) and a few more on that for an evac system.
It should be closer to 800 in the car.

"Fairy Tale 466"........LOL
.030 over D1VE Block
10/10 Factory Crank by Adney
Scat 6.605 Hbeams
Arias Domed Pistons with a 1/16 Ring Pack. little over 14:1
Solid Roller upper 270 @ .050 on the intake, mid-upper 280's on the exhaust, .800 lift on a 108 by Scott Main at Cam Research
Set of Freebie Eddy RPM's (you know the story about the car they came off of ) I ported them added 2.25 / 1.76 Ford Racing SS valves, Erson Springs, TI Ret, Comp 1.73 Rockers. Got them to blow about 390 @ .800
It has the TR Intake I've been building for the last year and a half with a pair of recycled 8896 1050 dominators and a few old Quick fuel parts added in.
The oil pan is one of Lems Custom Charlies dragster pans with a Kaase Pump
Its got a Ford Racing timing chain, ATI damper and an old mallory small cap crank trigger distributor with the balance of parts from MSD.
Not a whole lot else to it.... its a pretty basic simple bracket motor.
This is pretty similar to the "Cheap Skate" engine, Just it has a proper Camshaft, a point more compression and the TR.
Its cool seeing it hold on well past 6700, where the Victor manifolds seem to stall at, I was expecting a peak a few hundred rpm more, but I cam probably get that moving the cam around a few degrees.
Phillip is going to try running the headers for the dragster on it and we figure that will be worth another 15 or so peak HP and add the Evac system, I'm hoping to get 790-800 out of her.

Re: Yet another 460 build......
I figured it was a 108* cam..it sure was noisey at idle. If you want it to run higher rpm the bigger/shorter headers and a 110* lsa cam should help in that regard.
Re: Yet another 460 build......
Well look at changing the cam out when I swap this engine out for the 598. I want to run this one in my mustang after I get used to driving the dragster.

Re: Yet another 460 build......
It may run better with the cam that's in it....being that you may swap tq. for hp. Also, you may not wanna have to turn it 8,000 rpm to run as fast as you can.
Re: Yet another 460 build......
That's true , we'll get some data off of it in the dragster and decide if its worth changing anything when the time comes.

You guys are way off base............... The dyno number is what it is all about
Pull it out to a 112 and post that 8000 rpm peak.

Re: Yet another 460 build......
I like the manifold, what did it start out as? I have an old weiand tr on the shelf that I thought of doing that to but it is the small port. Don't know how it would work on my tfs streets that are ported to cj size.

Re: Yet another 460 build......
Started as an old weiand I got off Wes Littrel. The small ones can be ported out to match.
My advice, if your not into doing a super long duration intake job, don't try it. It involves a whole lot of grinding, machining and welding.
I have a serious amount of time and money in this damn thing. To be honest if I had figured on the the total earlier, it would have made finding a used or buying a new sheet metal intake very attractive.

I used to run that old thing on 429 with eddy heads with a large plenum box on top with a toilet mounted sidways.
