Re: need to identify pistons!
I need to find out if they are for A heads or conventional. I will post a pic of them tomarrow and see if U guys can identify them for me. I dont know what the part# is for the pistons. If they are for A heads then maybe I will find me a set of those even though it would be more cost effective to change the pistons.

They were in the engine when I got it. Here are some pics. Need to know if this looks like they are for A heads.bbf-falcon wrote:What did you buy them to be for

I've never actually seen a piston for the SCJ/P51,but the exh. Valve looks like it's a little low for A-head pistons.

I know they dont fit SCJ cause that is what I have. The intake hits about 1/4-3/8 higher than what you see. Could they be standard location?bbf-falcon wrote:I've never actually seen a piston for the SCJ/P51,but the exh. Valve looks like it's a little low for A-head pistons.

That piston is for an "A" head.
The exhaust valve on an "A" head can open some .400" or so, before it ever contacts a flat top piston crown with no notch there at all so, these are for a giant duration camshaft or heads with a bunch milled from the deck surface.
Re: need to identify pistons!
thank you very much Randy. Now my Q is would a set of A460 powerport 340 heads be a better head than the SCJ heads that I have right now. I found a good deal on a pair is why I am asking.rmcomprandy wrote:stanggt wrote:They were in the engine when I got it. Here are some pics.
