No ...point was shouldn't take a ton of power at 2700-2800 lbs to go those times....... the eddy heads I have are cj cnc port openings to use to help the issue
I was getting at you have the parts to do a big block rock on with your plans...... it might just suprise you
Good luck have fun and keep us posted on how she does

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
seems the bbf surprises a lot of people with simple combos , i could build a crazier engine but to slow it down for the class ...no need
turning 27 in a couple months and paying for a wedding currently out of pocket for spring .......should call this the WEDDING BUILD lol
so trying to use some things i already have and will spend some but didnt want to build a new engine from scratch .
finished redoing my house i bought last year ....been busier than ever .
could go crazier but local class is 10.50 index thats pretty big class .....should be simple combo to get to work
My thing is a finding a good starting point TIMING for this engine with hyper pistons , will use vp113 even with the compression at 10.7 to 1 ...i have use dto it before and have had good luck with it being consistant .

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
I know of a offy port o sonic for Dommy ..... I have a viktor but thinkin of grabbing it locally for 100 $
Not sure if any gain up to 6500 rpm max vs viktor , will probably grab for money though

Grab that intake now for a $100 dollars even if you don't use it, they are hard to come by and pretty good.5pointslow wrote:I know of a offy port o sonic for Dommy ..... I have a viktor but thinkin of grabbing it locally for 100 $

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
Butterbean said his ran as good as his Victor. I think the Dommy flange may be even more rare? Did you get those new truck rods in NC I posted for you on Craigs List for a $100.0? I should have grabbed them.

https://www.429-460.com/t23322-offenhauser-port-o-sonic-intake-for-sale I saw you got the Romac. I don't think this Offy is for a Dommy but, is port matched to CJ's? I should have written the Craig List guys phone number down, but I guess he sold them, the add is gone. For $100 you can't go wrong and no shipping charges either.

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/mc/manifolds/ford/torker-bb.shtml This is the shortest one that I know of that might work for you. According to Edellbrock it is 2.05" shorter than the Victor. You will have to run a 4150 carb. though.

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
G dog ran 6.80's at 100 mph @ 4600 lb with a ported Torquer II I did for him. Through the muffs and street tires.
If it was good enough for a 545 shifting at 7000 rpm, I think it will be sufficient for your deal.

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
call me odd ....for some reason id love to run the stock hood vs the cowl
at the end of the day its a fairmont
Think it may clear ?
as reminder to this combo ....goal is to run 10.50 index faster would be better but think this is a realistic goal and class is pretty big at local track
using engine plates so maybe it will clear

http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84216&page=100 Look at the pictures in post #1492. You can get an idea of your hood clearance. I believe that is a Victor intake with a very tall air cleaner. A Torquer II would be at least 2"s lower and you could run a low profile air cleaner to make it fit?

Re: Eddy head 460 with icon pistons
Yes or even the Victor looks close to clearing from the YB picks minus the air cleaner and spacer if it has one, could not tell for certain. I could not find the height of the Offy anwhere, but it looks around 5" from the carb pad to the china wall. The Torquer II is listed as 4.25" and the Victor at 6.30". Get your guy to measure the Offy.
