Well first off you should get some runs on the car and try to fine tune it as is and know what works and what don't. Also we need more information on your build and what the fuel system consist of. E85 needs a large volume fuel pump do to the Fact that is burns 30-33% more fuel. if your car need to burn race gas you will in the long run save money because E85 is cheaper. I know of 2 great E85 builders, one converts you exisisting carb the other builds brand new stuff. You decide

A former fellow racer runs his car on E-85 he said he dropped .400 and gained 3-4mph on a 10.5:1 motor and car became deadly consistant. The guy shows up with his dial in on the windows already and has been same dial in for 2 years. He wins alot!

Send your carb to Mark Sullens. Do a search on his name and call him and talk to him. He really know what he's talking about.

i built a 1050 dommy with a qft conversion kit and a few custom mods and mine works great...... The tuning window is HUGE with e-85 makes it a forgiving setup

at 10.5:1 I'd just run 91-93 pump gas and not worry about converting it.

If it's bound to be a bracket car the money would be well spent on E-85 conversion even at 10.5:1 in my opinion, heads up or an index maybe not so much.

I index race and switched last year thinking the expense of fuel $8.50-10.50 a gallons(2 cars) was pushing me out of the sport. I like the E85 but just have not work all the bugs out to run the number every time because of this throttle stop stuff. I may run all out brackets this year to see how things go.

For a 12-13:1 motor its a reasonable alternitive to race gas to save a few $$, but for a low compression perfromance engine its just not worth the agrivation IMO

I certainly agree and run a 10.5 compression motor on pump gas and a 13.5 compression motor on E85. The 10.5 compression motor may be converted to E85 in the future but it will take advantage of the fuel and go up to at least 13 to 1.
As stated previously the fuel system needs to be oversized to handle the additional fuel at about 25% more.
That Holley blue wont last long with alcohol. I run an Aeromotive A1000 there are others and alcohol compatibility is a must including the lines and the regulator.
The E85 carb experts
Convert your existing carb with Mark Sullens or buy a new carb from Horsepower Innovations (Eric). Both are on the E85 websites. I went with a new 1050 Domminator from Eric.
