C4 or C6
I recently picked up a 429 big block to put into my 93LX, I'll be getting a stroker kit for it and some aluminum heads. What would be the best trans to use for this set-up, a c4 or c6? Also what would be a good stall converter too.

This will be a 100% street car because we don't have a track on island.

C4 would be easier to package and would probably be fine for a street style car. Glide if your gonna lean on it a lot.
Re: C4 or C6
Thanks! Can I get any C4 or do I have to get a specific year(s)?

Any 70 and up 26 spline in put shaft c-4 is what you need plus a reputable builder with good parts and not off the shelf assembly line junk,so called performance built transmission. Good luck

I agree with Dave, the C6 will be less maintenance and can certainly take the torque with no issues.

Same deal with the c-6 as the c4 get someone if they do make a mistake or you have a problem with it that will take care off you.

Re: C4 or C6
Best core for a C-4 is a C-5. Just need a C-4 VB and bell. A C-6 of course can handle what you want with very little modification over a stock rebuild. C-4 will require more effort and won't last as long, but is lighter and easier to package.

Tell me about it! They close the track a few years ago on Oahu but the outer islands still got their track still open.crittersf1 wrote:ISLAND93LX wrote:This will be a 100% street car because we don't have a track on island.

only way id run a gm trans is if it only had 2 speeds, imo if your gonna do a 3 gear the c6 is the ticket.
