engine problem 7.3 powerstroke td v8
hello guys,
here in germany the garages have mostly no idea about the powerstrokes.
try to help me please to find out what is wrong:
our '95 ford v8 td 7.3 powerstroke ran correctly to a fuel station to fill it
with about 2/3 new fuel.
7 miles later about 50miles/h the engine runs like a 4 cylinder vehicle and had no
power anymore.
we drove back to the gasoline station to ask for the diesel quality. (they said-very good)
then i tried a new diesel filter- but no better result.
30miles later the truck had power like one horse but not more- i had to
dump speed accellerator -otherwise the engine is turned off.
the next day- engine likes to start but it is not possible anymore.
now the truck is in a garage & they said that the injections of the right bank have no electrical signal.
the garage said that valve cover gasket lines are fine.
On the two right connectors to the gasket is no control flow.
On the way from the controller to the plugs according to statement a Ford specialist told us there should be
a high-voltage module, but no one knows exactly where.
there are two computer to find out. on passenger side there is one with the numbers
F7TF-12B599-AC. then there is a 2nd mounted at the mid of the firewall named EEC-V Tec5.
Is there more info on forum, I would be grateful for your help.
greets joe

Check wiring harness in and around valve covers/vc gaskets.

clean the connectors and add some dielectric grease to them also.

X2,thats most likely it. The harness under your VC's are rotted and need replaced.

need to take the connectors apart at the valve covers, both outside and underneath, the outer pins for the glow plugs put a lot of heat on the pins from the amps and they melt, it can carry over to the adjacent pins for the injs...............the IDM will see an open or short and shut that bank down to protect itself. If all the connections are good besure to ohm out the circuit including the inj coils, if a coil gets high or low resistance same deal. If all thats good the IDM could be at fault...................but its usually from the pins being open or shorted that knocks out the IDM.
