If its anything like the one at Lucas Raceway park in Indy, then you will not look at your local race track the same way. I'd just like to have 1/4 of the wad the Army spends on their display/show....
Re: On my way... I'm back, with lots of pics!!
I used to love going to the NHRA national events.
Nowadays it seems to me it is more like a circus. all the teams box themselves in so you cant hardly watch them work anymore.
The on track show is pretty good if you like the fuel cars.
Not fan friendly in the pits like it used to be.

Been to the Gator Natioal a few times but the last time I was not impressed much like was said you cant get close to the big dogs trailers and watch them anymore lile you use to be able to.I rather watch the 10.5 outlaws now they seam more down to earth.Hay DOUG if you have never been to a national event you will enjoy it for sure.

Been to the race in Vegas twice. I go walk the pro pits when the fuel cars are running down the track. Vegas isn't bad either to go sightseeing. I'm not into gambling much. Go check out the Hoover dam while you're there. Might as well make the best of it right?

Thanks Rob, for putting up some pics... You missed the best ones though. Or did I not send you the ones of me helping work on Larry Morgan's Mustang?!! I went back to his pit after he blew the tires off in Rd 1, and he was working on something and I just kinda jokingly said, "Looks like you need a third hand". He looked at me a said, "Well come here and hold this piece for me will ya". I still can't freakin believe it!! I won't be able to post them until I get home to my computer. But if you have them, feel free ... I'll give a better update after I get back home, but all in all, it was a great weekend ... Especially my very long visit with Larry Morgan... Above all, THAT made my WHOLE weekend worth the trip ...

That's pretty cool Doug,I was talking to Gary Varney a couple years ago about Larry,(he is one of Larry's many sponsors, and they are pretty tight) and he said that Larry is just one of the guy's,and funny as hell to be around. Hope to meet him some day

Re: On my way... I'm back, with lots of pics!!
A couple shots from Friday night with the cell phone:
A couple of qualifiers from Sat.:
Eliminations from Sun.:
Driver photos:
For those that may not know (I didn't until Yesterday) this is JR Carr, driver of the white "Independently run" Mustang... He too is one great guy... And Ford to the core...!
And here are my fav's:
This one, you would've had to be there. I was shocked, as I was explaining to Larry how to fix this piece of material, and he chuckled and said, "Hmm, you know what the hell you're doing, just do it!" LOL!!
I've never been to a Pro show before, but I will be back when I get the chance, that's for sure!! Larry is quite a guy, never in a million years would I have thought I'd get to actually lay my hands on a Pro Stock car. At least not in this capacity. When all was said and done, we worked together almost an hour and a half. And before I left his pit, he did a video greeting for my wife Jeanette. She cried when she saw it... Then we shook hands, and I told him thanks for granting me the opportunity of a lifetime. He said "no problem, thanks for your help, I really appreciate it".
It was a great weekend indeed, right up to that point. Then it became pricless!!
Thanks Larry!

Nope!! Other than it has the shape of a brick, nothing happened to the nose. I agreed to Larry's request not to dicuss what went on there, but being as we're ALL Ford guys here, I WILL say, something MAY be "happening" to the nose...

Usually the fords have good front half track incremental's but the mph is always down. You can blame it on hp, but arrow dynamics is a big deal at 200+ mph.
When I saw the cars at Bristol it was very obvious the Mustangs had more frontal area to push through the air. The GTO's are very small.

As are the Camaros... If you look at some of the photos, you can see the difference... Even the Mopars have a better nose than the Mustangs... It LOOKS decieving at first glance, because of the square grille, but there's definitely a difference up close... Hence the difference of 2-4 mph...IDT-572 wrote: it was very obvious the Mustangs had more frontal area to push through the air. The GTO's are very small.

Way cool Douggo!!!
Larry is one NICE guy. First time I saw him was Div 3 points meet at Stanton Mi, way back in 83! He was running a SG Fiero for The Rod Shop out of Columbus. Boy how have things changed.
Glad you had a good time Doug. Watch out for the fishing girls walking around

Re: On my way... I'm back, with lots of pics!!
For being at my first big show, it was a blast. Even though the fuel cars do give an impressive show, I'll stick with the sportsman, and Pro Stockers... At least when I went to talk to any of them, they actually took time to at least say something in return to your questions/comments. Except for the Summit stooges. I saw a kid continuously stand in front of their canopy and asking for a signature, and they never even acknowledged the fact that he was there... There was a guy there that had an original 427 T-Bolt, that was running 10.40's I'm sure the engine wasn't an original 427, but it was definitely still an FE, and it was an automatic...
I'm planninng on going back for either the fall race or the spring race again next year... And possibly to Pacific Raceway during the Western Swing...
