There are a few different chassis exit headers, but none that I have seen with large enough tubes for a race engines. Maddog makes a nice set of fenderwell headers with 2" tubes. Schoenfeld makes some reasonable price upright headers with 2" tubes. If it were mine, I'd do the Maddogs, clean and fit good. I had a set that he did with a set of BBC flanges, and they were very nice.

Do you guys think, the mud or body movement from the torque will hit or damage the header if it is fender well exit? I spoke with MAD DOG and he said, you need to maybe get at least 2 in body lift with the application... any thoughts?

I have an 80 f150 with the maddog 2". The driver side header hits my tires. Ive ran 35x10.50 boggers and TSL q's. Its not a big deal but kinda anoying. The other side doesn't hit at all. Other than that they are nice headers. I asked him about doing some 2.125 but he said no.

alright the tires i am using is 39.5 but i am afraid to spend that money and have the damn tire keep hitting.. but have you tried a different header?? i am possibly thinking about putting the headers through hood.. but i don't know..

I liked the headers through the hood, it cut down on the noise in the cab and I could also hear the drive train breaking

The 2" maddog header, how did it sound? and did you make any fabrication on the frame or body?

Large tube headers are not needed unless its in a more drag race configuration. .......take for instance. ..my build.....not your typical build. 521ci p51 headed street motor p51 heads matched to a dual plane?!?! And smaller headers.....goin in a 6000# f350........THESE NUMBERS WERE MADE WITH 1 3/4 HEADERS..642 hp at 5700...and 670 ft/lbs at 4200....

So is there an accepted engine size/power level that the store bought smaller 1 3/4" OD 460 header would start to hurt power/torque numbers, and a bigger tube would be needed?

Did you test with a bigger set?

I would fine it hard to believe it wouldn't pick up hp and tq with a set of 1.875 or 2 inch.

You'll find horsepower up top but lose torquedown low.......depends on where your rpms will NORMALLY run......if its street..me personally I'd rather have the 10 ft/lbs of torque than 10 hp up top.....don't get me wrong horsepower is always good...but how often with you be able to bang through the gears all the way to redline where you'll finally see that extra 10 horsepower.....as far as larger headers...buddy of mine had a ser of 2 1/8 laying around........I did pick up 14 horsepower at redline.....BUT lost an averageof 30 ft/lbs from 2500-5000 rpm.......ill tske that 30 ft/lbs......heavy vehicles love torque
