503 FMS A-Head Build
Well I have been gathering parts for around a year and here is my 503 inch A-head build for in a 4X4 pulling truck. And figured I don’t see many small cubic inch A-head builds so I wrote this up.
All machine work and assembly was done by Jet Boat Bob.
The Build consists of:
4.160" stroke Lunati 4340 crank
6.8" Eagle hbeam rods with arp 2000 bolts
FMS A460 block bored to 4.390"
FMS A460 10 bolt heads titanium intake and stainless exhaust
Trend 3/8” pushrods and Comp Cam 1.73 roller rockers
Jomar stud girdles
4.390" Domed Ross forged Pistons and Mahle file fit rings low tension rings
FMS single 4500 intake manifold with a 1” open spacer and a 1” Jomar power cone spacer.
Lunati custom ground solid roller cam (thanks Randy Malik)
Crane .904 solid roller lifters along with bronze lifter bushings
Comp Ultimate Adjustable billet timing set
Jeff Johnson billet two piece wet sump pan.
Moroso external oil pump setup.
MSD Crank trigger ignition with 7al2 and pro power coil.
Quickfuel 1250 Carb
GZ Sportsman Vacuum pump setup
I would like to thank Bob Hardison aka (Jet Boat Bob) for all the hard work he has put into this along with all of the info he has been able to share. He is a one stop shop and does the machine work in house to the highest standards utilizing top of the line equipment. From welding some fittings in the pan to machining the block he has sent me pictures and called about every little detail. We should have the engine on the dyno this week and see what it puts out. I will post some results after the dyno.
I would like to send out a big thanks to Kayla (aka the Boss), My father, Lem Evans, Randy Malik, Charlie Evans, Bobby Ziolli, and everyone else that has made this possible.

Re: 503 FMS A-Head Build
I am happy with the results for what I have in this deal. And couldnt have went with a better guy to do it. Jet Boat Bob has an exceptional shop with top of the line equipment. The engine made these numbers with "shrouded"valves to boot. 880hp at 7100 and 7200. And the torque was 707 from 6000-6200. Not bad for a budget build. I'm sure it will destroy the truck. This is with a safe tune on Mike Phillips dyno at Automotive Machine & Performance.
I will try and get a video and pictures up once I get home.

Badsnake it worked very well. The only thing I added was a scavenge filter off the pan.
