Change/remove oilpan of 429/460 Empty Change/remove oilpan of 429/460

Post  staxnix January 23rd 2014, 2:43 pm

Hi guys,

have a 429/460 in a 1977 Ford Ranchero (replacement of the 351) and I want to install a new seal for the oilpan. Can I get into problems with the removal of the oilpan (lift the engine) since I want to paint it also.

Thx in advance,

Stephan

Sometimes it's difficult to get it high enough to clear the oil pump and get it off and out. Without the engine hitting the fire wall at the top bell housing bolts. It's just a try and see deal.

Ok with that chassis it's a piece of cake. Remove the thru-bolts from the motor mounts. Place a bottle jack with a block of wood under the balancer. Jack the engine enough to get 1x2 blocks of wood between the frame mount and the motor mounts. Release bottle jack. You're set!!!
