Is this a "Spun" Bearing???
Is this a Spun Cam Bearing???
Can anyone tell me if this is just a bad bearing or if it is indeed a "spun" bearing?

Re: Is this a Spun Cam Bearing???
My Dad showed the bearing to a Machine Shop guy and he did NOT think that it had spun. But he said he wouldn't be able to tell for sure until he saw the block. I did think it was strange that I could still read the FORD logo on the outside of the bearing...

Re: Is this a Spun Cam Bearing???
I had something similar happen years ago...
The bearing "stuck" to the camshaft, But it had not spun in the cam bore..
checked the block and the bore was good...
Put in new cam bearings and ran it for years...
Never did figure out what made bearing seize to the cam.
But, it had to be from a lack of clearance...

It's not a good one either
It's more like the one on that Dove block of mine years ago, not the ones in the ablock!

I know what you were trying to say.....it was a lot gooder than it could have been.
That D0VE incident was way weird.....it almost looked like the damn bearing fell out of the housing bore.
Re: Is this a Spun Cam Bearing???
You mean like these?? A429 heads, dropped exhaust valve head. Trashed the block but these came out of it after 11 passes. One reason my next engine will be going to west to be built. No oil pressure problems.
Or was this the result of the metal going through the oiling system from the failure. I would doubt it.
