Options for 18mm sparkplugs
I have DOVE heads and the plate sprays 150/180 through it, I currently have AR32's but wanted a colder non-projected NGK -9, problem is there is precious little I could find for 18mm, 14mm has pages of options. Can you use an adaptor to go from 18mm to 14mm? Are the AR32's safe enough?

Yes you can get adapters.
The NO2 gurus here would have to answer the question about the plugs.

Re: Options for 18mm sparkplugs
I bought some adapters from sparkplugadapters.com... I called the guy up and he made me a set for my dove heads that allows the use of a gasketed 14mm 3/4 reach plug. Garret machine also supposedly made the adapters, but I was unable to come up with any. Check out www.sparkplugadapters.com though... The exact adapter is not on the site, but just give the guy a call and he will fix you up! He was very good to work with! Hope this helps.

Thanks Jon, I was curious what style and depth of plug I would need to work with the head if an adapter was used. The 0.750 in. reach gasket style plug would be exactly what I need, I'll call them Monday.

It was Steves recommendation for -9 plug that I started on this; I found the NGK Iridium IX BR9ECSIX non-projected tip would work perfectly, -9 heat range and .750 reach to work with an adapter.

Re: Options for 18mm sparkplugs
The owner of Garrett Machine has died. I understand that his son has taken over and that there will be changes in the business. It may or may not be possible that there are plug adaptors on their shelf....460bronco wrote:...Garret machine also supposedly made the adapters, but I was unable to come up with any...

I think the adapter shown in the photo is from www.sparkplugadapters.com.

Re: Options for 18mm sparkplugs
I just completed the transaction for the adapters with R.E.A.M., John was great to deal with and the whole transaction could not have been easier. Thank-you everyone for your help and pointing me in the right direction. Jon, appreciate your help with the pic as he had your info on file and made getting them done fast.

Re: Options for 18mm sparkplugs
Hi.
I am also in the process or looking at 18mm plugs for my build. No gas or induction., cast heads some porting, mild cam, intake, exhaust, 10:1 pump gas ... street car not drag.
I can see NGK 6fs range and Autolite 124 plus a ACDELCO 05614094
Would the 6fs be fine?

IF your engine is happy with the heat ranges available, there will be no problem with running the 18mm stuff except that they are not everywhere to get.
The Accel plug I use is an 0375.
