Really can't blame George. I'd be a little irritated too. Just tried to do something for the ford guys and give them a place to race and didn't ask for anything out of it for himself. All he got was a bunch of mouthing and bullshit for his trouble.

SO, does that mean you will be there and bring some people WITHOUT bringing the race vehicle...?
You can't please everybody all the time, honest.

Re: Ford Thunder thoughts and ideas.....
George; I just want to let you know I appreciate the job you did and the way we were treated while at Hardinsburg. We were unlucky enough to finish up on Friday due to a chipped exhaust valve but stayed around for most of the Saturday show but finally had to leave before eliminations began.
I sit here reading the comments that everyone is making and wonder where everyone was when the show started on Friday. I walked around the track area with my wife on Saturday morning and we made a car count, counted them twice and there was 24 cars there, total, I think a couple more local guys came in later in the day to run the bracket races. This is so dis-hearting when you pull for 6 hours and spend 800 bucks to be a part of the show only to have a bunch of "no shows". When we pulled into the parking lot at the track on Thursday there was a grand total of four cars there, I knew then that we were in trouble.
To me this show is the only thing I want to attend every year, it is THE SHOW the one we don't want to miss because it is all Ford and we have had the opportunity to meet and get to know a lot of you guys. If other brands are brought in only to get car counts up we will NOT attend, we get to race tons of chivies every time we race and I am not going to pull a 44 foot trailer for 6 hours to race chivy guys on their home turf, SORRY.
All I want is to keep the program alive and ALL FORD!!! We are in Alabama but are willing to help where we can to get things together for next year. We are willing to look at any track location within reason after all we live in the OBAMAAAAAAAAA economy and I understand that.

I don't think people were talking about other brands, just if its ford powered, whether BBF or FE, or SBF or even mod motor.

I've only made one race in the past but I wouldn't drive that far to watch bowties either.

Re: Ford Thunder thoughts and ideas.....
I think I have been to all but maybe one, and I will be at all the rest if Gods willing. I can tell you this, after putting a race on, I have a ton more respect for others trying to do the same.
I even pulled my junk all the way to the other side of Chicago to race with the Yankees.............
I had a blast, I let my good friend Red drive my car and I just helped other people with their cars.
This race BIG BLOCK FORD BASH or what ever it's called is the best race I go to. Just sitting in the pits and soaking up the info from all the engine builders in this group is worth every dime spent doing this race.
It seems all the information that used to flow freely on the forum is now gone, but at the race especially after all the cars are put to bed the conversation is priceless.
If a date is posted early for the next race, everyone should make plans to attend, put back 25 or 50 bucks a week or what ever you can and pt in your vacation request early and lets fill the pits.
The people that sign up early and make sure they show up , really helps the promoters get good money in for the purse from sponsors. They have a good idea how their business and goods will be viewed.
If the Fabio is going to show this time, it will be worth every ones time to see me spank dat butt. It's about time I turned up the wick.

Re: Ford Thunder thoughts and ideas.....
I don't know why theres confusion with this event? As far as I know it's been anything ford powered since at least 2009... The first year I attended and actually drove my race vehicle the 1200 or so miles round trip to get there and back.... I run a 390FE in my junk and have never been turned away... I look forward to this race every year... Hell we were leading the points in our class at my home track but I still skipped a race at home to come support this all ford event and race/converse with my ford brothers. The track always has always been a hooking sob for me.... I get my best 60ft. Times at US 60... even in the heat...
I really hope this event keeps happening but I can see how promoters get frustrated when the people don't show... The family like atmosphere is unbeatable and I always look forward to the good conversation and info that gets passed around at this event.. Oh and the food and beer. Hope everybody can make amends and get back to the way things used to be... Lifes too short...
