bluef100fe wrote:I don't know why theres confusion with this event? As far as I know it's been anything ford powered since at least 2009... The first year I attended and actually drove my race vehicle the 1200 or so miles round trip to get there and back.... I run a 390FE in my junk and have never been turned away... I look forward to this race every year... Hell we were leading the points in our class at my home track but I still skipped a race at home to come support this all ford event and race/converse with my ford brothers. The track always has always been a hooking sob for me.... I get my best 60ft. Times at US 60... even in the heat...
I really hope this event keeps happening but I can see how promoters get frustrated when the people don't show... The family like atmosphere is unbeatable and I always look forward to the good conversation and info that gets passed around at this event.. Oh and the food and beer. Hope everybody can make amends and get back to the way things used to be... Lifes too short...
Cody,
When it comes down to the "point" of this event ... you "get it". So many others just don't.
Re: Ford Thunder thoughts and ideas.....
I agree with ya randy... Also the track is rented for test and tune on Friday... We pretty much had the run of the place Friday... I think people are crazy to not want to come and test on Friday and race on Friday night and Saturday morning for like $135? Where else can you get that kind of flexibility for that kind of money? Shit I counted my timeslips after we packed up and I made 26 passes in the two days I was there... Yes the fuel bill and windshield time sucks for me to get there and back but the info/help given out and friendships formed at this event are priceless... I guess I should get off my soap box now also...

i think the popularity of a track has something to do with it all so.

I agree 100% on it being a two day thing, with the first day just a TNT. With the kind of distance I drove in 2012, this, for me, would be a requirement. It just wouldn't be worth it for it being a 1 day event, even though I would love to meet all of the board members again. That being said I thought these things were two day events anyway? It was at US43.

it was just so damn hot! Friday night tnt then Saturday race would be good IMO. We may need an extra day for hErO to get his ass handed to him.lolpsfracer wrote:Itbluef100fe wrote:I agree with ya randy... Also the track is rented for test and tune on Friday... Re: Ford Thunder thoughts and ideas.....
They have been two day events... US 60 has been TNT during the day on Friday then you can race their regular Friday night program (all makes allowed) then it's the all ford race on Saturday... I believe the windy hollow events were also done in this fashion.. At least the four years I've attended were this way...

Re: Ford Thunder thoughts and ideas.....
If one wishes to try and decipher what, why, where and to what extent; one only needs to look at past history. What changed? Why are the car counts lower?
I don't have the answers but IMO one needs to learn from the past and try to improve in ways that will bring the people and cars back like it used to be.
Everyone has different opinions as I have mine. Some may or may not like ones opinion. All I'm saying is try to learn from the past and make it work.
I have my reason for not making it this year and also the last few years. If some don't like my reason, oh well, I can't make some like it.

Thats what I thought--I was just saying moving forward I would hope whatever is figured out it would remain a two day thing. US43 in 2012 was the same way.

I think Hardinsburg(US60) was pretty popular. I never heard anyone complain. Maybe not Norwalk or BG,but its downhome and racer friendly and it hooks as good as any of the big tracks.

Man, I turn 40, miss one Bash and you guys start complaining???
I missed it due to kids and summer camp schedules. But otherwise me and my dad would've been there. Just didn't work for us this year. I've been for as long as I can remember and have never brought anything more than a cooler full of beer and pots to boil crawfish. We show up for the friendship and bench racing. Hell I even flew in and rented a car for the rained out reschedule at Windy years back.
I think setting a date for next year as early as possible as well as securing entry fees months in advance would help get the attendance up.
As far as past tracks and who's put on each of those events. Not one was better than the other IMO. All the races at Windy, US43 and US60 were a blast. Each track has it's pros and cons. And all hooked real nice if I recall too.
As far as I'm concerned the Bash is the Bash. No matter the who, when, where or how...

I got and idea......
If we need to get attendance up..... Have Charlie and Lem do the chicken dance for charity..... Everybody donate some money to watch them to do the complete song and the money would go to a charity of their choice.
Hell I'd throw out at least $100 to see that !
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7NEjjq2BW54
And if that's not good enough how about the hookie pookie?
