Hey guys!  I'm having some transmission trouble, but I'm sure you guys can help me figure this thing out!  I was driving my truck the other day and when I shifted to 3rd (broader manual vb) it felt like you pushed the clutch in on a standard.  I pulled over to the side of the road and checked my fluid level..  Sure enough it was low. It was just on the stick with the motor off, so, I added a few quarts and fired it back up.  I put the truck in low range to try to get back to the house and it drove fine until I met a hill then I gradually lost pulling power and it went to neutral in all gears.

I pulled the truck home and it has sat for several days.  I fired it up today in neutral and as soon as the motor fired, the truck jumped forward about a foot.

Next I grabbed my line pressure gauge and stuck it on the tranny.  While in park the line pressure pulsates rapidly from 25-100.... Same thing to a lesser extent in neutral.  And get this, it has ZERO pressure in 1,2,3 and reverse.

My guess is it blew a seal in one of the pistons and I have a massive internal leak.  Just wanted to see if you guys had any ideas before I peel it out?

Any replies are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jon

Need help!!! 48558dd01d4b021b859fed78e44b27e1_zps7548dd73

I pulled the pan and there are wads of clutch material laying in the bottom of the pan as well as stuck to the filter.

I didn't see any valve body bolts that were loose nor on the filter.

Why does this thing have zero line pressure in 1,2,3,R and pulsating pressure in park and neutral?

Thanks,
Jon

Have you tried to call Jay? He's usually pretty good about trying to be helpful. It's easy enough to go ahead and pull the valve body, and aircheck the clutches. Honestly, looking back at your first post, looks like it's going to be an internal issue to me. But, I've been wrong before.

Need help!!! 16359a58c5bdb407d9cbdb0d6c61650c_zps509ca681

Ok--- looks like this steel hung in the original snap ring groove in my direct drum and the force from the piston snapped the steel in half.

Then---- the sharp edge of the steel basically shaved all the clutch material off of one side of the fiber (seen above)

Looks like when the steel hung in the original snap ring groove in the direct drum, it wore a groove in the teeth on my forward drum!

Looks like I found the root of my problems, but I still don't understand why I don't have any line pressure in 1,2,3,R.

I pulled the valve body and air checked the ports in the case.  There was some air leaking by, but I could still hear the clutches apply.  This makes me think some of the clutch material garbage made it past my filter and has the valvebody acting improperly????

My worst fear is sticking this thing back together w/ a repaired direct drum and I still won't have line pressure....  Any ideas on what to check next before re-assembly?

Thanks,
Jon
