Cheap headers did not have a bung....the sensor was in the after pipeing which was blown of during the pull.

There is nothing magic or fancy here.
Lunati crank, scat rods, probe pistons and a D1VE block.
SCJA heads, o.t.b. tfs 'mafia' manifold, jomar power cone spacer and a qfx 1050 carb.
Comp cam, lifters, rocker arms and trend pushrods.
Re: 521" pump gas engine
A big thank you goes out to Lem and Phillip Oakley with the build. My original idea was to use a torker II and aim for the 650ish Hp mark. After the hood clearance was doubled checked and seeing the port work required to get the torker II to work we decided to give the mafia intake a go. It ended up being much more than I expected and definitely more power than the car can put to the ground. It will be going in a 67 fairlane sedan backed with a c-6 and probably 3500ish converter. Not a race car by any means just a weekend play toy, street terror, tire roaster

That is badass with pump gas and a solid flat tappet. Where is the limit in a flat tappet? Could a cam be grinded to make good power with a460 heads?

That's a joke Jones! Those numbers are off a reasonable dyno, built by people in the know.

Re: 521" pump gas engine
Nice build, fairly low HP Per dollar as well I'm sure. Question, how do you guys running flat tappets keep from wiping lobes off of cams, I run solid rollers in mine, but I have heard of the probs. with the flat tappet cams. Also, was the cam Hyd or solid?? Fla Fairlane, where in FL are you from?? Again, nice build...

It's a solid flat tappet deal. As far as "wiping lobes"....it is seldom the cam or lifter's fault.

Oh, I see you forgot that this build has ported SCJ heads, mafia intake, 10.6:1 compression (measured), and a custom cam I am thinking. This is not a typical mass assembled Ford Motorsports crate 521. The engine assembly was very carefully assembled,
low tension rings? maybe, and many other details that lead to better than average power output.
And yes, many internet and magazine published HP figures are B.S. I would have thought you were smarter than this.

Re: 521" pump gas engine
I'd like to know the power/reliability limit with a solid ft cam. Would a flat tappet be able to make good power with A heads?

The issue...i.m.o. with a s.f.t. cam in an A460 package would be the limited lift that would be available in a typical affordable s.f.t. cam.
The FRPP SCJ head's flow curve is a natural fit for a typical s.f.t cam....... .600" - .650" lift.

Really? Please school me, do you dyno engines often?
