89 460 efi
i have installed a efi 460 in my 78 bronco. i am using the c6 from the bronco not the e4od from the 460. it seems to have problems reaching 4000 +rpm. in the old truck had no problems. was wondering if not hooking up the wiring from the e4od was causing me any running problems. i didnt think the efi used any trans sensors for running needs.
thanks

Not getting a reading from the Shift solenoids and the PRNDL switch can cause this. Computer for a 89 with a c6 or a stick would most likely help this but not a gauranttee ! I have seen a loss of power with bad shift solenoids and the transmission still shift up and down through all of the gears. Good luck .

i did keep the manual lever switch wired in. i placed it into n position so the computor would see a neutral signal so it would start .does the pcm need to see shift solenoids operation as that is a output from pcm ? i could see maybe vss it needing but from what i have read it only uses that to time the shift solenoids.since the c6 isnt wired ??.
thanks for the help

yes everything in print says the trans has no input to the pcm for engine controls.i think we found the problem today found 10v at coil at idle when reved at 3500- 4000 would drop to 6v. hot wired feed it a full 12v revs to 5000 in park no banging. will chas it down tomorrow .
