Truck pullers
how many of you are pulling in this class in the KY,TN,IL area? I just went to a KTPA pull with a friend and ended up 3rd in a very competitive bunch of trucks. I been considering this a while and may jump in!

Re: Truck pullers
the basics are stock frame and 485" motor. A460 heads and blocks permitted and one standard dominator flange carb. profab transfer, crower clutch stuff is normal too. Its kinda like a modified class but 31" bar tires, stock frame and steel body,485" motor. Most of the trucks in the hunt turn 9000+ on good tracks and make over 1000hp. Ideas?79Puller wrote:Whats their rules..

I have a buddy in WV that pulls that class over there. Same rules but no puling tires. Class gets a lot of trucks. Are you looking to build a truck ?

Re: Truck pullers
thinking about it but I'd like to find a roller or at least a good start. I've been around this class a while with my neighbor and his truck ,which is competitive and its the hottest thing going around here. The modified 4wd class is dead but super mod 2wd is alive and well with the blown trucks running away with everything.79Puller wrote:I have a buddy in WV that pulls that class over there. I have several friends in the Western Ky area that pull. Randel Miller, Danny and Chuck Hendley, and a lot of others that I know. Havent been to a pull since I moved away but always had a lot of fun doing it.
Re: Truck pullers
Sounds like their Pro Stock class. same rules in Indiana truck pullers Assoc. Very competitive class, many of the guys jump over and pull in PPL also. Some of our super stocks would jump up and run that class. I have heard RPM ranges from 9000-10000rpm for most of the trucks in the hunt.

Those guys and a few others (Jerry Gross, Donald Byrd) got me started thinking about hot rods and I worked with Randel a lot in high school and college.

Don't know when/how long ago it was taped, but I saw some Pro Stock Truck pulling on TV this weekend. They were really zinging the RPM's way up there, and holding them there for a long time during the pull. Sure was a sweet sound.

When I was helping those boys out 8-10-12 years ago we'd turn stock cranks 8500-900. Blocks were all stock blocks with Hardblok up to the bottom of the water pump holes.
