That was our Pro 5.0 car.2003 Mustang. Won the NMRA championship in 2006 and runner-upped in 2004,2005 and 2007. Was a Haas car, Hairy Glass narrow carbon fiber body, 814" n/a hemi, Liberty 5 speed,(not a Lenco) etc. Originally had to weigh 2600# with driver, then we got a 50# weight break to 2550#. Went a best of 6.56@213+. Held the record until 2007.
I had first chance at owning it when we split up the team, unfortunately, I couldn't afford it! Beautiful car, would go .970 60' on a gravel road. That's the big stuff. Steve

Putting together a '98 Mustang, full tube chassis, 25.4 cert good to 7.50. 598" c-head, 'glide, fast bracket, slow Top Sportsman deal. Been sitting on the chassis jig for longer than I care to admit to Hope to get the body mounting finished and get the thing on the ground soon. I've got all the parts, just need to get it together. Time is a tough commodity as you all know. When I get done for the day, there's always something more important to do than work on the car, especially this time of year. I'd hoped to have it on the track by fall, but I doubt it's going to happen. Maybe this winter we'll get it going, I hope

You mean that all you truck drivers aren't made of money? Definately something to share and remember though. I remember talking about that car on the way to the seminar and how much time and money was required to make it operate.

No, I didn't drive the Pro 5.0 car. Michael Hauf from Stuart, Iowa was our driver. Too much time away from work for me to do the driving. I usually made 3 or 4 races a year as part of the pit crew and also sponsored the deal in a small way. It was fun while it lasted, but the NMRA did away with the Pro 5.0 class after the 2007 season and went to the 10.5 Outlaw deal. We sold everything off, and went our seperate ways in respect to racing.

Just like it says, the car would 60' almost on ice. Had excellent front and back half numbers. I don't know how else to put it. We were going .970 in 60'' at 2550# when the IHRA Pro Stock cars were going .99 to 1.03 at 2400#. The car just worked.

Thanks for the bigger pics. Looks like it was a damn nice car, .970's 60fts is cooking. Too bad you couldn't scoop it up for yourself.
Now we just need pics of the new ride being built (hint~hint).

Hey Nevs
I knew I saw that are before but just couldn't put my figure on it.That was one bad ride guys.I wish the NMRA would bring back the Pro 5.0 class. It was an awsome class.By the way thanks for the wheelie bars.I picked up the car Friday and we are going to start working on it today.New pictures of it in Damon's photo bucket.
