I've been searching around for ever for front end parts and trying to figure out what solid axle to swap and I found a 95 f250 diesel in way better shape than my 92 so I'm putting it on road this week but it has a crank trigger or torque trigger what ever it is and then snuffs it self out but the overdrive light don't flash Speedo works fine is that a code that can be cleared or a sensor problem. It's hadent run in 8 months till I got it a few days ago. I found a 94 f350 tow truck I'm going to use for a donor truck with a 5 speed to fix up my 92 for next year I'll put it in the shop for the winter and do it right with a lift. I appreciate the help don't mean to bug about stuff and not follow through with it everyone has been a great help thanks alot

Sounds good Bart. On those 1990's Ford's gas ones at least can be a real pain to trouble shoot if you don't work on them a bunch and I try not too. I think I would disconnect the battery overnight and if everything seems ok drive it a while. Mine gets Gremilin's that come and go. After the flood we got water in the tanks at the gas stations and my wife wanted me to change the fuel pumps, I just laughed and told her to keep driving it. It's about cleared up and I threw a shot of water remover in the tank yesterday. It's behaving well and has about cleared up but, it's always something on that truck, but she does alway keep rolling and has not left us stranded, so I can't complain and may throw a 331/347 in her one day.

I could not follow what was going on, might want to put a little more detail in the question, not a Diesel Mechanic though and am learning as I go about mine.

My 96 would just die but then fire right back up and then was good. At first I thought it was because I wasn't using it much but it turned out to be a crank (or cam) position sensor.

The battery was unhooked for 8 months. It's not like it stalls it's like the torque converter is already engaged when you put it in drive. It shifts good but half the time it's as if your in a standard and your foot slipped off the clutch. Is there a torque converter solenoid or something? My 92 did this but it just fixed itself somehow.

So it's like the torque converter is locked up and pushing through the brakes? If so it could be the battery. Mine would do that when there was a big draw on the electrical system ie big thumping sound system.

I don't have time to dig into it much. ^^^^^Maybe this will help some and call the parts store, junkyard or Ford dealer and find the interchange of the parts you have. Hope it
helps some.

It's a 96-97 diesel only cluster, go here and fill in the information. It has parts in the USA or Canada http://www.car-part.com/

So I just had a brain fart and put the 96 cluster into the 92 IDI and the odometer works? The transmission is gone in the 92 so I can't see if the Speedo works but now I dont know whats going on with the new power stroke none of the 3 clusters work in my new truck and they all work in my old piece crap Suspect any other ideas of what it could be if its not the PSOM??? Does the rear anti lock brake module have anything to do with this It looked like the speed sensor runs to the anti lock brake module then to the PSOM but I don't know how to read that wiring diagram stuff???????????
Please help bom
Thanks Bart

So they told me the the door chime is on the same fuse as the Speedo and odometer as soon as the touched the wires in the door the fuse blow. How it didnt blow before I don't know the fuses were the first thing I checked. I dont know. They only charged me $70 bucks so it wasn't too bad
