1.73 or 1.8 rocker opinions please

Before I learned about custom cams and the help of this forum this is the cam I chose for my 501. Being on a tight budject I am stuck with it good or bad. I do need a set of rockers to complete this engine however. My question is would the 1.8 rocker give me more power over the 1.73 ratio and if so pros and cons welcome. My build is a street deal mostly since I really haven't been down the strip yet . I do want a bigger bang for my buck though. I estimate my engine compared to others and actual dyno results to be 650 hp plus. Mafia TF intake , 1050 QF , Trickflow streets , built by Evans ford with pocket port work done , 10.2 CR dish SRP pistons ,4.14 stroke , 4.39 bore. baffled pan , vaccume pump , electric water pump . Accufab 2 1/8 headers .

While I have had great results with 1.8 rockers the additional lift and faster opening / closing rate (at the valve) of the higher ratio rocker will require more spring than the recommended comp 954-16's.


At 500" with your heads and intake your hp peak rpm will be 6,300 or better. Since Charlie did the heads he would be the person I would check with regarding the springs ability to deal with the higher ratio rockers.
