Picked up a new weapon Empty Picked up a new weapon

Post  Doug Rahn March 25th 2017, 9:22 am

About 7 years ago I sold the last one I had and felt it was time to replace it. I picked up this up last weekend, Springfield Armory "Saint", 5.56/.223. What steered me to this one where some excellent reviews and the price. Especially the price because it comes with some upgrades that you usually end up making anyway like the Bravo Company furniture. Other features that sold me on it are the polished and Nickel Boron treated trigger components, mid-length gas system with a heavy tungsten buffer, and a Melonite treated barrel. The only changes I'll be making are to an ambidextrous safety selector and charge handle, because with rifles I shoot left handed which is my dominate eye, with a hand gun that's not a problem.

Even sweeter was the price I paid, Dealer cost including shipping was $735. MSRP is $899.

That's one of those evil black guns eh??? Nice looking piece there Doug. The gun loonies here in Canada make it pretty hard to get one of those here.

You can buy a semi-auto .223 if it has wood furniture all day, but if its black....no way!!

Good rifle. Its light weight to. Compared to all mine anyway. I just finished this 300 blackout a few weeks ago.

I only work on it a couple days a week. Instead of buying the new rifle, I probably should have spent that money on the truck. But, I really needed another rifle to replace my last one. I only have my Glock .45 and H&K 9mm pistols then for a rifle I only have my Grandfathers Winchester 73 hanging on the wall and that thing is 131 years old but it does still shoot good.

Seriously? Their logic is if it has wood furniture it's a less dangerous weapon, got to be liberals that thought of that one, lol!

The weight was another point that sold me on it. And that is one sweet 300 Blackout, my brother got one about a month ago.

You hit the nail on the head!! No common sense at all. Its all about the imagae of the gun. You should see what we have to do to own a hand gun....

Let me tell you what I ran into yesterday, and you really had to be there to appreciate how funny this was. A friend of mine asked me to bring the Springfield over so a friend of his could check it out. We are outside standing next to my truck comparing my rifle to some he has and had all of them laid out on the tailgate of my truck.
Now here is where you learn just how stupid some liberal anti-gun people are. A neighbor of his walks over and ask “What’s going on”? My friend says, “We’re comparing and pointing out differences between the rifles here so Jim can make an informed decision before he buys one”. The neighbor says, “Why do you guys need guns like that, that are so big and meant to kill”? So I had to jump in and said. “Well since the invention of the gun, they are all meant to kill. Why do you say they are so big”? He said, “Because they fire big bullets”. We all looked at each other and smiled. I look at me friend and said, “You take this”. He went back into the house and came out with a Ruger .22 auto he has probably had since he was little kid. He ask his neighbor, “What do you think of this one, it’s a .22 cal. Auto”? He said “That’s fine, it’s small caliber”. My friend said, “These are all small calibers on Doug’s tailgate. This one is a .22 and these are .223”. He was holding up two bullets for comparison and said, “This one is longer but only 3 thousandths of an inch larger in diameter than this one. Think of it as a .22 on steroids”! His neighbor said “Oh”, and walked away.

I read somewhere some time ago that .22 caliber has killed more people than all other calibers, short of military calibers. Dunno for sure. Just thought id throw that in there. Hell, I respect them ALL. I sure would not get hit by any of them......
