Breaking in a Comp Cams SFT CAM
Hi guys,
I'm going to be breaking in my very first SFT CAM as soon as the shortblock arrives.
My son ordered a fairly mild SFT cam for his 466 68 Torino GT
Ive never done the break in procedure for one of these.
Should we assemble the heads with the used stock springs that came with the DOVE-C heads we'll be using for the break in?
We do have "break in oil" and plan on adding a Zink based break in additive as well.
I welcome any and all input.
Thanks in advance

Depends on what springs you are using. If the open pressure is not too crazy you'll be ok with the normal springs. If they are double springs you can remove the inners for run in
Be careful of stock springs . sometimes the springs will coil bind, all depends on the cam of course .

Thanks
Good point about the stock springs binding!
The springs that came in the kit are double springs, so we'll just run the outers for break in
Thank you

If you already have break-in oil, another zinc additive is not needed, and according to the folks at Joe Gibbs "Driven" oil, may be detrimental.
