Pump gas A460 head 572” HP guess
I’m going to be dynoing this motor in the next few weeks and wondering what it should make. Here is the build list
A460 block
Scat forged crank 4.50
Scat 6.80 rods
Venolia pistons 11:1
FMS A460 heads ported 2.30” intake
FMS A460 intake
Pro systems 1200cfm
Custom solid roller 277/292 .800-.773 108ls
2 1/8 headers to 4” collector
No vacuum pump at this time
Motor will be going into a full size all steel stock suspension truck 4000lbs with a c6. Will also see a good amount of nitrous from an IS Real Street plate. Hoping it’s a bit faster then my cast crank TFS street headed 512 that blew apart last year lol

Re: Pump gas A460 head 572” HP guess
I will be very interested in what it makes as I am working on a 562 build 11:1 18 bolt TFS A460 head 2.350 intake valve build.
how much port work was done ? how do they flow?

They were ported years ago then touched up recently. Flowed around 410 at .800 on his bench. I never did get the flow sheet.

Should have the results later today. Motor is currently on the dyno. Need to find some longer plug wires as the ones I made for my old heads and short MT valve covers don’t fit. Hopefully she does ok

Re: Pump gas A460 head 572” HP guess
Well no surprise I didn’t make any noise today. Got there and one head was spitting water out of a pin hole where the oil drain back is. Said if it was a race only deal they had marine epoxy that would work. But being a street/strip motor they are going to yank it and weld it up. He is going to leave it bolted on the dyno so it will be ready to run once fixed. Hoping by the end of the week.

Joe, this is for your dentside I assume? Still keeping it under a stock hood?

Re: Pump gas A460 head 572” HP guess
Yes I’m still keeping a stock hood though I would like to find a fiberglass stock height hood that still uses the hinges to lighten the truck up some.
The shop is still struggling with the tiny water leak near the oil drain hole. They tried welding it but it began to leak in another spot next to the weld. They said Dart reccommended a special epoxy that I’m hoping they did yesterday and possibly have it ready to go this week. I’m getting impatient as this build has been on going since last May.

Re: Pump gas A460 head 572” HP guess
Well I finally heard my build come to life tonight. Had some issues but did make a few pulls. Best being 851hp at 6600 with 30*. Lost power going up to 32 or down to 28. No afr because they couldn’t find the wire for the o2 hook up. And they had 112 in the cell so hopefully some hp in jetting and 93. I’ll get my shot again since they installed low tension oil rings and it’s smoking a bit on decel. So they are going to pull it apart, install standard oil rings, fix a small oil leak, put 93 in the cell, order the cable or the o2 and hopefully rerun it Monday.

The shop also said the dyno was known to be stingy so not sure what that means exactly. But it could be reading a tad shy.

I, for one, certainly don't envision 50+ horsepower in going to using 93 pump gas and higher tension oil rings ...
Re: Pump gas A460 head 572” HP guess
Long time no update. So had a lot of issues all with the heads that were “supposed” to be ready to run. First a water leak by the oil drain back holes. Then it was sucking oil through one of the valve guides that was so loose it basically came out by hand. 3 others were also quite loose. So once that was all straight luckily still at the shop on the dyno I finally got my motor back about 3 months ago. It didn’t make any more power after changing over to pump gas and rejetting the carb. Was a bit disappointed with the numbers but the real results are at the track anyway.
Once I got the motor in the truck with 4” full exhaust and a new magnafuel pump I made a few street passes and didn’t really think it was that fast. But to my surprise the first pass was a 10.09 at 132. This is at a race weight of 4050lbs. I have over 700 miles on it now with no major issues. My best pass to date is a 9.93 132 with a 1.39 60ft. This is a full weight truck on stock suspension and on drag radials. It has more in it on motor and a lot more on nitrous I hope.

Congrats, runs really well. What's the trans/converter/gear combo?

Re: Pump gas A460 head 572” HP guess
C6 with Broader brake, PTC nitrous converter, 3.70s, 315 pro drag radial.
Ran it yesterday on spray. Jetted up higher then I wanted to in hopes of outrunning some fast cars. It was a no clocks event so no slips were given but after the event I made 1 test pass. 9.53 141 on a low bottle. Went to run it back with a fresh bottle and plugs but ran out of time.
It needs some updating now as the nitrous is a bit much for a stock truck. Hopefully a cage and an arb will get it going straight again.

Was the guide causing the smoke on decel? Did you still go standard tension rings?
What was the torque? Power curve? Kept the early intake?

Re: Pump gas A460 head 572” HP guess
Yeah no cage. Basically a stock truck lowered with caltracs. Was cool at first but for me and the trucks sake it’s time. So no more sleeper look
Yes It was pulling oil through the guide. They made a plate for the carb and put air through the intake and it was coming out of an intake valve guide. Found this only after having re ringing the motor and having the heads off twice before for the water leak. Std tension rings now as I don’t want to run a vacuum pump on the street.
Torque was 730ish at 5000rpm. I never got a dyno sheet but was there when they ran it. Still the OG motorsport intake.
My tracks just over sea level. That was on a 90 jet, 10* total 100% 93 octane. Bottle weighed 18lbs after that pass so it likely would have ran better had I made another pass on a fresh bottle. Also had to delay it .5 and ramp it out to get down the track. 60ft was same as I ran on motor 1.39.
