New lifter/used cam/355lb open 140lb seat solid FT
I know that guys run new lifters on old cams from time to time, but given the pressures I'm running I'm seeking some reassurance. I had a rocker come loose and the pushrod poked the lifter plunger center down into the lifter further(Junk Now). I have a new lifter to stick in there with some good lube and the standard break in procedure to follow. I'll remove the inner spring on that valve as usual. It's a custom grind so a new one would be $280 with lifters, and I would rather not go through the full 16 spring change break in procedure if I don't have to. Does anyone have any experience running new solid flat tappet lifters on a used cam in the same block?

Polish the lifter face and edge with 600 grit paper to give it the best chance.

what Randy said . Use your palm , with the paper in your hand and rotate the lifter . not on a flat surface . thats how i do it

I'm on my second set of solid lifters on my same flat tappet cam. I just did another breakin procedure, removed inner springs, cam lube, the whole deal.
No problems.
