Tomorrow i will go to the machining shop and finally decide on what to have done, what to do myself, and how things will be done.
Final advice on the valve size?
stock is 2.08/1.65
i was thinking slightly larger, with a light bowl job for it, and have them done at 2.11/1.70?
Is that advicable Randy?

for sure, not trying to be a wiseguy, just trying to figure the good combo.

The cam will be the one i currently have, the comp. cams 34-255-5

numbers:
rpm: 1000-5200
LCA: 114
ICL: 110

intake 256 / exh. 268
@.050: in 212 / exh. 219
valve lift: in .48 / exh. .495
lobe lift: in .283 / exh. .286

timing:

open close
intake 18 btdc 58 abdc
exh. 72 bbdc 16 atdc

Thanks.

Stick with the stock size valves and concentrate on the valve job and bowl blending. May consider a 30 degree valve job? Randy may chime in on this...........

Your cam will be OK with Propane; on pump gas IF good efficiency IS achieved, the engine WILL detonate.

That 2.11" intake valve will allow enough material on the seat to go to a 30° valve seat; (as with the CJ heads which needed velocity help down at low engine speeds).. The 1.70" exhaust valve, (1.710" is the standard 4V "Cleveland" size), will do OK with a good flowing exhaust system behind it.

okay, thank you for your advice, will do so.

The combo is on the edge for pump gas?
so, max. achievable, i guess, wich is good.
We have 2 types of gas here, one regular vs super, wich has 95 vs 98 octane. ( but a little different measured as with you guys, i think the difference is Ron/Mon or something like that? not fully comparable.)
anyway, we have a little higher octane option, so i think i'll be fine. (IF i ever will go gasoline, wich i doubt...)

thanks again.
keep you posted.

Okay, went to the machine shop today.
I agreed on 2.11/1.71, which he also agreed to be a good choice.
Will zero-deck the block and check all angles of the decks.
He's also doing some porting work, like matching intake, smoothen casting edges, humps, short radius, and some bowl work.
This will give 80 percent of porting efforts he claimed, and the last 20% would be the most expensive.
Also will he balance and blueprint all moving rotating parts, fully redo the heads (studs, guideplates, guides, SS valves with 30 deg/3 way and tulip cut, compcams steel roller rockers, new springs, and new pushrods of thicker material and put it all together.
Then put the heads on, double roller chain, and degree the stuff. The rest is up to me. (adviced no studs, it would be overkill, and hard on the heads. Good new bolts would do the job fine...)

he said that the combo should definately have gobs of low end power, and make it to the 450+ HP count easily.

any opinions or advices?
Now it's still possible Very Happy

Thanks!

Use a 30° valve seat angle on the intakes ONLY; the exhaust seat angle should remain at 45°.

okay, will do so.

I actually thought that a smaller angle helped better for cooling purposes?
