Back Together Again *(Update) TNT 7-2-10
Got my heads back from Charlie last week. She is all back together again. Can't wait to get a test run or two. Looking for 5.80's now. I'll post the results when I can get to the track.
Thanks Charlie!
Kerry
TNT was not good. The track was awful. I think the new added HP from Charlie exaggerated my already existing traction problems. Best 60" was 1.42 and ran 6.23. Ran a 2nd pass after some adjusting on the alky it was even slower, 1.44 short time and a 6.33. These numbers suck for a 2300 lb. chassis car. I loaded up and went home. I think I'm going to hire a professional to get this chassis lined out.
Thanks Charlie for the work. I'm certain she is making more HP, I just can't get it to the ground.

Kerry,
You are welcome,,,,don't hold your breath in regards to those 5.80's. I just believe it will run better. Take a close look around the margin of those old exhaust valves that I sent back. They are a classic case of the "clippers".
Thanks,
Uncle Charlie

Hot
Forgot to add, it was 80's degrees but humid as hell. I was soaking wet all night long. Might have had something to do with the track conditions.

Stupid stuff
I'm borrowing adjustable shocks and light springs, lowering the ladder bars, and dropping about 25 #'s on pill size. If that ain't stupid I don't what is but I've got to start somewhere. I get different stories from everyone I talk to..so I'm going with tried and trued. Thanks Jon. This SOB is going to run one way or the other. I'll let you know what happens in a couple of weeks.
Thanks Everyone for the help.

Leave the egt at home, I think she is lean lean lean............ If it does what I think you better hang on, and if it likes a mid 70 pill find some 36 nozzels............if I had any that small I'd loan um to ya. Get the water temp up around 165-170 when you stage, and be sure to note the temp before and after the pass.

What's the rest of the combo? That car should be going alot faster....
Cam specs? Timing? Shift points? Gearing? Conv? ? ?
When I saw you pull the heads at the bash looked like a 14:1 466 short block. And at 2300# it should be gettin' it on alot harder IMO

I agree with you Dave. 14.1-1 CR 466, D1 block, stock crank, cam speced by Lem, 650ish lift flat tappet, A-429 heads from Charlie now, Ron's Terminator, 35 nozzle, 0 1/2 pump, 98-108 pill so far, PG tranny, 5100 converter, 430 gear, 14.5x31 tires, 2388 lbs. without me, 38 degrees timing. I had a Cleveland in it before and it ran 6.17 in another car that weighed 300 lbs. more than mine. It ran 6.30's in my car. I thought then something was amiss in the set up. This car should easily run 5.80's I think. The best pass it ever made was last year at the Bash. It went 6.15 with a 1.35 short time at 112. This year without changing anything but the rear gear the best was 6.23 at 110 short time 1.40.

Dave,
The converter was originally an ATI job for a 514 in this car before I got it. I had a local with 30 yeas experience open it and loosen it up per his request after seeing my cam specs.
Cam Gross lift is .645 intake and .667 exh.
Duration at .020 is 292 in. and 300 exh.
Duration at .050 is 262 in. and 270 exh.
lobe separation is 108

Timing
Lem Evans wrote:38*s timing? Seems a bit much.
I thought so too Lem. I started at 28 and went up in 2 degree increments. It was still rising in performance and I was afraid to go any further. I backed it down from 42.

Sounds crazy but as I added timing I added performance.

Dave,
I had a knowledgeable buddy help me and we degreed the cam when I installed it. It is on zero. All marks verified and triple checked.
