I am still here somehow! Round 2!!

Guys,
I wanted to say thanks for the prayers and thoughts. I walked into the doc's office at 10:30 am Aug 2nd
because I had not been feeling well and had high blood pressure. By 11:15 I was taken by ambulance from
the doc's office to the hospital a mere 6 blocks away. By 12:30 they had me zombied enough to do the dye
test by 2:00 they were trying to get me air lifted to the heart hospital the weather turned sour about that time so I had a small delay and another ride in the ambulance for the second time in one day and in my life. Arrived late that evening around 6:00 pm. So the got me as comfertable as they could and proceeded to tell me I needed a triple bypass heart surgery and it would start around 6:00am the 3rd of Aug. With a blockage on the left side of 60% and 2 90% I have no family history of any problems like this. Surgery went well and we have had a few other issues but it looks like I will make a full recovery. I know we are all superman to our wifes and children so take the few hours it takes and get a true physical and cholesteral check and dont put it off till tommorow you may not be as lucky as I am. Just stop and think what youre children would do without you to guide them thru life!!!

I am glad to hear everything is doing better and you are alright. It is something you never think about but we have heart hospitals all over town here in Lafayette.

Welcome back. Glad everything went good for you with your surgery. The support is no problem, just a few whispers to the good Lord above, and look how it turned out. Gotta keep the 'ol ticker up to snuff, 'cause you're right, our wives and kids need us to support and guide them.

It sounds like you went for a wild ride in more ways than one. Glad to here things are looking good for you.

I agree 100% with your advice to go get a physical.

I had a blood screening on May 25th.
The results showed my Triglycerides were way high.
So I'm at a higher risk for a cardiovascular event than if I was at a normal level.
I'm watching my diet now. No pasta,potatoes,white breads,sweets, etc..
Going in for a recheck the end of this month.

One tip, from a diabetic that I know. Stay away from pomagranite juice, he was drinking it to stay away from sugar and found out it had TONS in it but of course the label said otherwise because not much was "added". Just saying because what you posted reminded me of that.

The diet will be the hardest part the healing of the sternum takes approx 8 weeks. I cant remember the last time I could not wrench on something for more than a couple of days, so I guess I will be on the forum quit a bit just trying to pass the days till I can get back at it. This is a heck of a wake up call but I'm up for the challange. I know some of you guy's have been thru the same ordeal and have made full recoverys so thats a insperation at this point.

good to hear all turned out ok . got me thinking now that I should go get a check up . only time I see a doctor is when I'm bleeding

At it again. Thought everything was ok all my checkups came out fine. Went to see the wife in baton rouge
at the first of the month and suffered a stroke so now we are back to no driving and no working until all is
clear again probably well into the race season arg!! There will be some of my stuff hitting the auction block to cover some of the medical expenses and to pay for the parts I had just bought for the T-Bird. I wished for last year to hurry up and get over with cause it had been rough I guess this will teach me HUH!!!
