Schmitty, If at all possible and for informations sake can you "when it's time" get a weight on that 89-91 frame? I know it's considerably lighter than the 79 frame but it would be nice to know how much. If you could find a 1980 only frame you would only have to wash the outer edge of your boggers because thats all that would be touching.

The 1980 f100-150 and bronco frames were very light thin wall and swiss cheese like due to all the holes from the factory, I don't know it the 250 frames were the same. Ford revised the frames in 81 and went back to a heavy frame with no holes.

I am not going to use an 80 frame. I will be using my 89 frame for now. Yes the 250/350 frame was a lighter weight frame with the holes in it too. Rancher in my area had one and broke it several times.

Shed a few tears today, disassembling the old engine.
Everything looked great on the way apart. Kind of sad knowing how well this engine performed and now it is going to be parted out. Good news is I won't have to run against it.
This showed up and it looks great. Can't wait for the axles to show up and start the buildup on the rear end.

Been a little slow going so far, but the front tires showed up today, and I got the 4 link ordered up. 18" bars and some double adjustable coil overs are on the way.

Off with the old.
And on with the new.
This is a new tire that Racing in the Dirt is doing. It is an old style TSL Super Swamper and when cut like this only weighs about 45#.

Brakes showed up, still waiting on the 4 link stuff. Considering making my own chain drive for this truck. There is a guy here in NE that built his, and it has been working quite well for him so far.

Keep us posted on that. I've been toying with that idea also. That would give me a center point for front and rear shafts, then I would swap in a centered diff 9" with D44 outters set up on coil springs. My goal is to get the lower gearing in the diffs and not in the t-case/trans area.

I'm wanting to do the gearing in the chain drive and keep the gears I have now. The lower the gears go, the fewer teeth on the pinion and a weaker pinion.

Hey Mark, saw your truck in the shed when I was getting some more ideas for how to put all of my stuff together. I'm hoping to have it all together and come play in Central City with you guys.

That sounds great Schmitty, I know you have alot of work ahead of you. I have also a little project started on the truck also, shorter frame, 96 body going on and of course new paint hope I am ready too.How about a dirt drag this year in Holdrege?

Re: I think it's time to get going on this
I'm still working on a drag here, but have been hit hard trying to find a place to have it. Terry Mayo and I went over to Hildreth and talked to their Lions club about having one and they are definately interested, but didn't know if they could pull it off or not for this year. I'm also leaning on a couple of other places to have one here in my neighborhood too. Gotta find a place that will let me use the ground.
