Mud on the windshield!!!!!
I dont get 10 feet into the pit and my windshield is completely covered and I have to drive looking out the door. Because of this I do not have any glass or lexan in the drivers door, because of that I get covered with mud and water every pass. I thought about going with a lexan windshield with a "gunners" slot cut in it or a lexan side window with a slot in it or maybe both. What are you guys doing?

Re: Mud on the windshield!!!!!
I know of a guy that turns his windshield wipers on before he hits the pit, maybe put some rain-x on it to boot. Sounds stupid but if your going through the runny type of mud it may work, if your going through the thick mud then I don't know. I'll find one of his video's.

I just put wipers on my big truck with a rain-x type stuff and it beads the dirt and salt right off.
Not sure it would keep up with the amount of mud your putting on it though....

Fill the windsheild washer fluid resivour with water and hook a switch up so it will spray water during the whole run without having to hold the button.digger460 wrote:maybe windshield wipers along with carring a couple gallons of water and a 12v water pump to spray water on the windshield

If you run the really nasty stuff, do what the Louisana boys do and put a 4 wheeler sprayer with a pipe and nozzles on top and bottom of the windsheild, and run the wipers with some good blades on them.

Re: Mud on the windshield!!!!!
My computer crashed and I lost all my web sites. When I got a new one I had forgotten about this site until I ran across it on the net somewhere. I blew up the motor in my pullin truck and Have gotten into a mud bogger. So I'm in the process of Doing a new motor for the pullin truck and trying to make this bogger right.

Glad to know you found us again. I lost your # a couple years ago, and wanted to come say hi when I ran up to Sturgis the last two years. You should get up to the Buffalo Chips and come run in the mud with us.

The best solution I found for keeping mud off the windshield is to GO FASTER dont give it time to land on the windshield.

Re: Mud on the windshield!!!!!
Going fast is a great way to keep the mud off, but if you can't, I've seen guys cut holes in the lexan windshield to be able to see. I have also seen them make shields to go over the holes to keep water from coming into the cam when you wash. Not my truck, but to give you an idea of what I'm talking about:

This works great. We've used them for a couple years. If you keep an eye on Northern tool and tractor supply they will usually have a 12 gallon sprayer on sale for $89. The one I bought puts out 60psi. While everything is tore down this winter I will be putting my rad in the back, I plan on using a t-splitter and small ball valves so i can use the spray wand and extra hose on it to clean the radiator, windows, driver, etc.
