Tell him to buy a aftermarket tuner. It's something with Fords emmisions or torque managment control. It's nothing with the transmission, it's all in the factory tune.
Which I must say I have noticed when the truck is in 6th gear and I am barely in the throttle around 1,200rpm I can feel a surge. Can't feel it if I have the cruise control. I have been talking to alot of folks and every car or truck seems to have a surge sensation like that at some rpm. This surge is nothing like the tuging sensation the truck had before though. The entire truck would bounce up and down and passangers would always ask if I was doing that and if I would stop.
