Take it for what you will, but like me I see others too are tiring of our "new" system

nothing wrong with running your own life. like the Germany history lesson , if you got your hand stuck out for gov. money here , your already there . lack off jobs/econo. in the father land and the party going to take care of it gave the brown shirts power . USSR, Romens , plus other all fell from within. we are a service nation ???? we don't manifacture much any more, so what other power shall we serve in the future ? -

I think those of us who understood what was coming, are finally getting our point across. For those of the American public who don't get it, the government doesn't have the money, we do, and they are on their way to take more of it.

Don't really know what the answer is for health care, but one thing is for sure, SOMETHING has got to be done AND changed

health care
for example, I thought I got something in my eye, at work, I do hvac, sheetmetal ( hang duct) , for a living, run my own business, we pay taxes, workers comp ins, real printed pay checks, but cant afford health ins.
anyho the eye doc, took 5 mins to look at my eye and write a scrip, for an allergy, prob from the new cat , the kids brought home, long story short, it was $110 dollars for 5 minutes of his time,
5 mins X 12 = 1 hour ,, so 12 x 100 = 1200 dollars if it woulda been an hour ??? WTF point is if they all would get real about the cost, instead of getting RICH, off the workin folks, health care would be more affordable,
I bet that 80 thou mercedes out in the parkin lot belonged to the doc. but he was a very nice guy. !!
just my .02 cents Rick

Rick,
I don't disagree with anything you've said, but I think the problem goes much deeper. It's not so much that they charge what they do, but the fact we pay it! I no longer have health insurance either. I used to carry Blue Cross/Blue Shield. It cost me $285 a month for myself only. Had a minor crash on the motorcycle many years ago, had to go to the emergency room. Long story short, they wouldn't pay anything. I figured if I had to pay it all anyway, why have it. I take the premium that I would have sent them each month and put it in a separate account. Luckily, I've been healthy and accident free ever since. So, I'm well ahead of the game, but, heaven help me if anything catastrophic should occur. I don't know what the solution is, but, I know putting the government in charge isn't the answer

Re: This video is a MUST watch......!
Who runs medicare? I know it aint perfect but what other options do the elderly and the poor have? I guess we dont need it either?
My father had open heart surgery in 2007 and didnt have to pay anything. If he hadnt had Medicare it would have left him destitute.
I pay taxes just like everbody else (and dont much like it) but I will gladly pay more if it can help my family or friends. Wouldn't you?
I'm sure lots of us make donations to the church. Sometimes they do things with that money that doesnt suit every member, but how many of us openly complain about how the church uses that money? How many call it Socialism?
This debate will go back and forth forever with the opposing sides using facts, figures and examples until we're blue in the face. In the mean time what about the millions of people without health care who dont fit into the poor/elderly catagory? I guess they just need to wait and have that next trip to the hospital to put put them in the former?
The status quo is not the answer.

agreed on several points, medicare is a GREAT thing, for what it was intended, no one said it wasn't, my grand parents both used it in time of great need.
another point, I'll keep it the shorter version, in 06 I ordered a meal out, chicken fingers, bbq styled, the next morning, felt like crap. HAD to go to work, figured it would work out, wrong, by quitting time, my helper, had to drive me to the emergency room. they checked me out couldn't find anything, sent me home, with some script. two days later I show up again, still doubled over in pain, finally admitted me, took 3 days, to get over the food poison, and the 4th day ,I could eat solids again, so doc sent me home. bottom line bill to doctor and hospital was 29 THOUSAND dollars, I messed around and tried to make payment arrangements, the hospitals would work , but the doctors wouldn't work with me on it.
now how long would it take to pay that much off. long story short , I filed bankrupcy on the whole shooting match, finally got my credit back to fair now, so I WISH I had some ins then. but for the answer I have no Idea, Thanxs

Re: This video is a MUST watch......!
I sympathise 10000% with you on the medical bill deal.
Im 28 and in perfect health. Never sick, never broken anything (except for a couple fingers and toes that I didnt go to the dr for), never had stitches, etc...Im probably against the norm. I had back surgery May 26th and my total medical bill was 180k and some change. The insurance company paid for all but about 10k of it even though I was told pre-surgery I had a 5k cap. The extra 5k was general BS items they nickle and dimed me to death on. The next day after my surgery I had to use a walker to walk down the hall before they would release me....I got billed $150 for the walker. I didnt get to take it home. I didnt break it. I probably only put 2-300' of use on the wheels. The real kick in the face part is the hospital sub'd out a PT company to handle all post op stuff like mine and that company sub'd it out one further then sub'd out a 4th supplier for the walker itself. I probably have 6+hrs of sitting on hold just to dispute the $150 walker. Not to mention the other $4,850 worth of extra bs I wasnt expecting to pay for.
Get this...
I was told by my Dr that the hospital bills the insurance company $10,000 each for the two titanium lag bolts and 12,000 for the titanium rod they put in my back.

WOW that is some serious dollars, good thing you had insurance, I'm getting on up there, be 50 on feb 1st, so I've been thinking a lil more about it, more than I used too, about getting some ins, hope social security is still around come time to retire, maybe another 10 to 12 years
I just think the gov, should not run ,most of the big business, what ever the business is, jus my opinion, dont mean to offend any one. you know those pins , didnt really cost 10 grand to fab. lol some fab shop could've fixed you a couple for way less, lol, I know its not a joke, but dang that was expensive , hope it fixed it ya for life.
Thanxs Rick

Hahaha! I couldve grabbed a couple hot galv 5/16 x 1 1/2" lags and a piece of all thread and done the same thing. Some buddys wanted to give the surgery a shot the weekend before when we were all a little to friendly with a 1/2 gal of crown.
Its obscene and unjust how hospital inflated the price of the stuff they used. Im all for earning a living but you'll never make me believe those little screws cost almost 10k each to produce.
heres an xray pic. Im turning into the bionic man!

Re: This video is a MUST watch......!
you know if the gov. wants to get involved and make a change they should look into the prices that they charge for services , that is why people cant afford to get help. the cost of insurance (that dont want to pay) because they are getting screwed by med.field so they screw us. I remember years ago of the gov. paying 1000s of dollars for a rubber o-ring so what do they care it is not there money

You know what I think the problem is with health care costs?
lawyers running amok. I would like to know how much of the costs are to cover their a$$ from litigation?
A few weeks back my mom had some teeth pulled and some other stuff done. Insurance covered it but somehow somebody forgot to tell my mom she had to pay $1300 up front.

"Better, stronger, faster"
I agree something needs to be done but I don't think putting govt in charge is it either. Everything they get involved in turns into a slow-assed, inefficient, super expensive turd of an operation. I think they ought to allow us to purchase health insurance across state lines and open up these plans to allow us to doctor/plan shop like we do for auto insurance. There should be regulations to protect the consumer as there are with most products... like not being able to deny somebody for a pre-existing condition or drop sombody or raise their rates at their discretion. Beyond that, the govt should butt out and let the frre market model do its thing. Socialism is not the answer. Nothing is truly free. You're gonna pay for it in premiums or taxes. Either way your wallet is empty.
