Re: Need Prayers.......
Talked to Doug a little while ago, and he was taking his kids to the hospital. Sounds like his dad is going down hill fast. Keep him in our prayers.

Re: Need Prayers.......
I want to thank you all for the prayers. I had to get the wife home and check on the dogs this evening, so I left the hospital a few hours ago. They've been having alot of trouble keeping his blood pressure stable, and earlier today they found through blood work, that dad's Co2 level was through the roof. They finally got that under control just before I left, but it's still not great. I texted my brother about 1/2 hour ago, and he said his blood pressure was very slowly improving. In this case, uphill is good. Ya know, it's so hard to see someone you look up to your whole life, that has seemed all but indestructable, look so helpless. My spirit was just about crushed. But then God lifted my heart, and told me everything will be OK. I know regardless, that God is in control, and will give us a result that He deems fit. My dad is strong enough to take whatever God gives him. For God will never put us in any situation that is too great for us to handle.
Thanks again for all the prayers, keep them coming.

I know exactly what you mean Doug. I had those same feelings when my Dad was in the hospital. Stay strong, it sounds like your Dad is on the road to recovery. Cherish your time together, it truly is priceless. Steve

Update
First off I want to thank each and everyone of my brothers here who are pulling for us in this tough time, THANK YOU VERY MUCH You are all very cool in my book
Second I will bee here all nite and day 2maro to be at my mentors bedside! He is responding to trearments pretty well. His BP is steady @ 124/81 give or take a little but staying over the 100 that they want and are slowly cutting that med back. As doug and are both very awear of this hospitlal we really are not fond of it! Both have had situations here. But the staff that we have watching over our DAD is a really good crew! And exreamly informative. As most that have been in simular situations we won't know a whole lot for 24 to 36 hours but as for now he is doing considerably better than when I say him this morning before they had to put him on the ventalator.
ONCE AGAIN THANK FROM MY FAMILY TO YOURS PLEASE KEEP THE PRAYERS COMING.

Re: Need Prayers.......
Just another update on our dad. He's been pretty stable since yesterday. Early yesterday morning I got a call from my brother telling me to get to the hospital quick, 'cause it didn't look good. His pulse was in the 180's, & BP, & Co2 were through the roof. We got there, and he was not looking good, and the nurse said we should think about saying our goodbye's. Because at that point the ventilator was the ONLY reason he was still alive. And unless things changed, it wasn't gonna get any better. I called a couple people I have on prayer chains, and said my goodbye's, and said lots of prayers. I was praying on the way to the hospital, and God told me, everything would be OK. That was it, nothing about bringing him home, or letting him stay with us, just that everything was OK. And I felt the wonderful feeling of peace come over me.
Then, by about 2:30 AM or so, and up until currently, he's been stable, and has been accepting all of his treatments with little to no discomfort at all. Yesterday afternoon after they started cutting him back on the sedation meds, he would open his eyes a few times, and 3 different times, he had his head about 6 inches off the pillow, like he was trying to get up & out of bed. And you could tell by his expression(although sedated) that he didn't want to be there. But we could grab his hands and talk to him to get him calmed down and relaxed again. Today I stopped by to see him after taking the kids to school, and things are still "looking" very good. He's been taking a few breaths on his own in conjunction with the respirator, but getting him off the respirator is still a ways down the road. Thanks for all the prayers you guys. They DO work! At this point, that's all we have, and I'm leaving everything in God's hands.
Thanks again, and please keep the prayers coming.

Another Update!
Well here we are agian, I have been here with our Dad inn the ICU here in town and it's been around the clock since Monday morning for me, I get to go home to shower and change and right back here to hang with our POP's. Well the last few days have been so so but this afternoon theystarted to slowly pull him back from the SLEEPY TIME MEDICINE, all was going good all signs pointed to him waking up and then out of the blue he started to have another Panic attack and this is where it really gets FUNKY!
When he was at home and was having them he would complain about his head feeling like it was going to blow up from the HEAT that was present when these go on. they sometimes last anywhere from 1/2 hr to 2 hrs. no one can figure it outand the only thing that we coould do for him is to try and cool him down with ice packs and cold towels? Also when he's going through these hes not hot to touch just he feels like he on fire on the inside? WTF any Doctors in the house?
then the second one that he had this afternoon we got a NURSE who thinks her shit don't stink and told my nephew and myself to just let it run it's coarse, again WTF!!!! So we proceeded to do what we had been doing back home and after about 1 1/2 hours he calmed down and was given more Medicines that really pulled him down and cut his HR down from 137 to 91 and his BP was at 734/92.then I went out to send off my wife and small son and he had another smaller attack. Yet most of his care givers he has aloat of there own ? as hesits there it seems ho has no shortage of breath or anything.I really wish that I could figure out away to control them.
Thanks again for the prayer

Re: Need Prayers.......
Well our Dad is 66 and still has BP better than most younger people. At least till latey. He is on a different med for his sleepy time that they can control his BP Heart Rate. They are trying to cut his Meds back a little at a time till he can start to come to and see how he does. They say his lungs sound better but they will never be right due to the years of smoking, welding without ventalation and he burnt his lungs years ago while cleaning shop floor with some acid based cleaner. I want to be the first to tell you all even though he is not at 100% this man is still pretty strong, He is fairly hard to control when he comes to a little every now and then. The long term is he should be about the same as he was before he came down with Broncitis. That is about it for now other than they want to start waking him up and see how he reacts to what has been done. Tried to get the nurse to give me a shot just so I could sleep but no go, I have been here almost every hour of the day since Monday morning pretty worn out here. Thanks to all of you who keep intouch and asking about him.
Thanks Dan

Wow he is younger than i thought, His time aint up yet! Stay by his side Dan! Good luck with it all
Well we are better
Well Dad has done so much better since the last time I posted an update! The past few days he has been doing so much hard work to get off the ventalator I can't believe it. Now for the last couple of days his labs have been coming back way better than the doc's were thinking they would! Good to hear right? Now we had been told this morning that they wanted to test him on his breathing for 4 HOURS! Well Doug and myself pushed him for 3.5 of them to keep his air up to over ten breaths per min! He was a trooper during the whole thing and the best news of all was that he passed his test with flying colors!
Then the doc's set up a couple more tests for later in the day to test his intake which he had to pull in as much air as he could through this little gauge and he passed that one with running the gauge around almost 2 full revolutions, Very COOL! The next test they gave him a bigger gauge and told him that he needed to exhale as hard as he could while they plugged the other side to hold the pressure and he nailed that one with 60 PSI,WOW they said that those tests were done with almost unheard of results! They could not believe what they were watching unfold from a guy who was in his shape when he arrived in there care. Took his vent out now we got a tough road ahead to get him back his before time the best possible. One more time we are so GREAT FULL for all the support hear from the forum brotherhood and families too!!!!!!
Thanks Dan and Doug

Re: Need Prayers.......
This is really good news Dan. Doug sent me several messages this week and last week, saying how your dad was coming around. Pretty good, considering how you guys were looking at having to pull the plug, then going to this. I'm happy that you two get to enjoy your dad for a while longer. I heard it was a little "cold" in the room today when your dad learned that his DNR request wasn't upheld.
