Re: header paint
I used Cast Iron stove paint the 2nd time, the first time I use the VHT they have 2 different kinds 1 you have to bake on and the other 1 you do not have to bake I used the one you do not bake on it is higher the the bake on.But it will scrath off very easy I have had my headers off a few times and need to be cleaned and repainted now.which will happen here in a few months when i have the engine out for the frontend swap.I may have to build another set when that happens and they will painyed to with stove paint.

powder or ceramic?
The headers shown above appear to be ceramic coated. But as you go to there website they only do powder coating.
Most powders cure at 350 to 500 degrees, but will burn off at lower temps than there cure temp. So is this what it appears or something new?

yes, but call them, ask for Derick, he will take care of you personally on ceramic coatings...

I think that was Travis Rice that mentioned that paint i'm pretty sure the name of it was DEI.

Re: header paint
I used the VHT from Advance Auto Parts that said nothing about baking the paint on and sandblasted mine then cleaned with brake parts cleaner and handled them with Nitrile gloves to avoid contaminating them from oils on my hands. I used 7 cans and painted mine inside and out and was not happy at all after running the engine.
Some powdercoating places have extreme temp powders that can more than handle the heat from headers but it is very expensive to buy because they buy in bulk so unless they have other jobs that need to use it most will not purchase it for one job unless you want to foot the bill and if memory serves me correctly it was $2-3000 for a 55 gallon drum.

Re: header paint
Did you use the vht high heat engine paint ? that dosen't say to bake them but the vht header paint does unless the newer cans say diffrent. I tried the plasti-kote header paint and it says for 1500 degrees and it worked good plus it said you can cure it by starting the engine unlike vht which they say to cure in an oven at diffrent temps. I might give tech line coatings a try techlinecoatings.com they say it cures by air drying and good for up to 2000 degrees. Look it on youtube as well.

Thanks Blue... I will give them a call, as it seems like the number you posted is much more in line then anyone else I have spoke to.

Re: header paint
We are in east Tennessee, price depends on size and shape. We do headers for a lot of powder coaters, but not these guys.

It was specifically headers paint and read the directions 3 or 4 times and never said anything about baking them.
My next set will be ceramic coated there is a shop 30 minutes from here that will do them for $280, lesson learned about the paint for me.

Re: header paint
The VHT Paint i use is Very High Temperature Flame Proof Header Paint Silica-Ceramic Coating 1,300-2,000 degree. On the back of the can it says to either Bake it on and also has on car Baking suggestions. On car run it for 10 minutes let cool for 20 minutes, run for 20 minutes let cool for 20 minutes, run for 30 minutes then let cool.I got the paint i use from Summit Racing for $9.25 a can IMO i think it holds up pretty well as my car sits outside under a cover all year long.
