DEALER TECHS!!!
Guy's.
Please answer what might have happened with this vehicle?
How did it get this bad?
How did it not get DIAG'd correctly?
With three Claims for the same issue on this one vehicle. With a grand total of $ 22,914 in repairs, for a 12K car. (1.6L sigma) Fiesta.
Customer stats. "vibration while driving"
Every time, same complaint!
Two new transmissions, one new engine only to find it was a bad O2 sensor, F-d up cat.
I tore the engine down, only to find the engine is perfect!!!
DO some techs not look at PIDS anymore?
Check long and short fuel trims, O2's switching, etc.???????????
801 miles on the car. All over a $100 dollar part.

Econmy man, the more work that they can keep the more money will be made if there is not enough business. The dealership I was working for was a money hungry fu@k up place. Try to sell brake pads when the customer has half left..... partly why they fired me, my buddys wife came in and during the 2 hours it took to do an oil change I asked the other tech with me that day about it and looked at it myself. I then told here what they was going to try to do. The service mangment must have heard me..... oh well thats why there business is going down the crapper.

My issue is.
How does this happen, Under warranty?
Doesn't the Dealer need approval form the Ford tech line before any parts are replaced?

Re: DEALER TECHS!!!
Did anyone attempt trying a different set of tires or examining the half-shafts, CV joints & bearings...?
As long as they are making money from SOMEONE, they don't really care about what causes the actual problem. All car dealers aren't like this but, a great number of them are.

Like I always tell people, NEVER EVER take a car to the dealer unless its under warranty.

Yes prior approval is needed, and with a repeat like that I cant imagine they are getting away with it.
And for the record we get a lot of customer pay diesel work here................even stuff other dealers cant fix.

Re: DEALER TECHS!!!
Dealers for the most part don't hire or send their Techs to get the proper training . The other problem I see is dealers charging 80 to 100 plus dollars an hour and the tech getting 15 or 20 bucks an hour flat rate with no draw or commission. Most have to pay for their insurance tools uniforms ect. out of this not to mention their bills out side of that! What ever happened to the 60 /40 flat rate for auto techs ,free car to drive when you got sent for training for a week, plus they paid your hotel and your eats for that week as well as an average of you last weeks pay.

Re: DEALER TECHS!!!
When I started back at a dealership I was previously employed with, I had the exact same problem. It was a Dodge 1500 with a 4.7 with a lack of power at one specific stop sign and hill after it. After a previous tech, pulled off and overhauled the heads, new motor, and 49 clocked hours "fixing it", it was my problem. I drove it 3 miles with the scanner hooked up, the downstream O2 was pegged to 5v, IIRC. So previous dummy reran the wire to fix the O2 and shipped it. Not 2 days later, it is back and in my bay. Put a new Y-pipe on it, problem fixed.
So to answer the previous question, nope.
