Web site costs Empty Web site costs

Post  jasonf May 2nd 2011, 11:40 pm

Hey Bruno, what does it cost to run the site every month? One of the other sites I belong to is probably going to close due to not enough funds so I was just curious.

Thanks,
jason

Well I can definitely see the time but is there a lot of out of pocket expense ($$$$) on your part?

yes there is , alot of it depends on the amount of storage, bandwidth, etc... i also spend money on keeping the spam/google ads off the site...just like any business there are so many variables ,

ask the owner of that specific site what costs are involved

He seems to have quite a bit of cost/month and it always seems to be an issue. He is a bit of a geek so he is always upgrading scripts and adding this etc so I often wonder if he just simplified everything ot a basic forum if it would be a lot less $$ and work.

Bruno, I wouldn't have an issue with a payPal link for donations- just don't do what the other site did by making you sign up for a reoccurring yearly charge on PayPal. That way if you want to donate you can, if you donate one year you aren't automatically charged in the following years. I donated to the other site and then the site was sold. I cancelled the automatic payment right away!
