TNT was awful Empty TNT was awful

The car ran horrible tonight. I lost a tenth in 60' for some reason. 6.28 was all she had. So much for running 6.0 index tomorrow. No throttle stop, going to try and run 7.0 index by feel. Also blowing oil out everywhere on pass side, don't know where. I'm not having fun anymore racing, does that mean I should sell?

No Kerry, save up and do the thing we talked about. If it was easy everyone would do it..........

Sometimes you just have to back up and regroup. I left mine sitting in the trailer for almost 2 years once because I was just burnt out. Don't do something you may regret later!

That's a damn good suggestion.

Continuing to hammer away at it without really having an idea what the problem is can create other nagging problems that show up. Maybe it's time to regroup & go through the whole car combo (car/engine/drivetrain) & look for problem areas.

Go through the engine & find the oil leak & look for any other possible problems that might have the engine down on power.

Go through the car/chassis assembly. Look for any abnormal wear or breakage. Look for any unwanted suspension component-to-component binding/impact that can cause the suspension to not work correctly/efficiently.

Look through the trans/drivetrain. A smoked converter (sprag/stator) can slow the car down a bunch. Something broke/worn in the third member/rear end can really bind things up robbing power. Even having the U-joint operating angles adjusted wrong can chew up a set of joints causing them to really bind up.

Kerry I know where you coming but check the head gasket it might be loosing compression and blowing by the oil return hole and causing it to blow some oil out on that side.

TNT was awful Empty Thanks

Thanks for all the input guys. On a positive side, I did race the car last night in the 7.0 index class. No throttle stop so I was spotting on track and counting. Not bad for the first time, ran a 7.05 and a 7.27. Eliminations cut a 513 light and ran 7.10. Other guy cut a 520 and ran 7.005. Close race for guessing. Just drying the tires in the burnout at about 3000 rpm. No oil blowing out at that rpm and slowed 60' to 1.49 from 1.34 just 6 weeks ago. All in all had a good time finally. I think if I keep the car I must start on a stroker.

Thanks
Kerry

Kerry,
Just back up...regroup...
To make you feel better, read my post about my mega thrash week end. I flogged my car all week...all weekend...and still looked like a fool in round #1.
