Re: competition gun guys come on in
Bruno what are you wanting to do shoot 1000 yards or are you just wanting to see that far? either way it is going to take a good lens to see 1000 yds and to see the bullet holes... on my 1000 yd rifle I use a 8x32x50 mm scope but I know when I hit it cuz I see the Prairie dog fall over, or the coyote hit the dirt, farthest I have killed is 1187yds...I don't like killing paper. if you are really wanting to see that far I would go to a sporting good store and look at spotting scopes and if you do it is a must to have a tripod, at that distance you can see your heart beat in the scope.....which looks like it is jumping up and down a foot or more....

If I'm understanding right, you're wanting to video tape your shooting sessions...? The best camera's on the market are from the guys a Campbell Outdoor Cameras. http://www.campbellcameras.com/
If that's what you're after, these camera's will get you a visual of your target, but the likelyhood of being able to see bullet holes through a camera are slim to none. As the mirage on most shooting days will make it virtually impossible to see anything but your bullet trace. Here is a great video from Savage Arms. It will give you an idea what kind of camera you'll have to have. Either way, these cameras are crazy expensive in order to get the video quailty you're looking for.

If you're planning on taking up long range shooting (500 yds +), THE most important thing to remember is that regardless of what caliber you're using, it's "only" as good as the optics you have on it. For me it's Leupold. Made in America, and the best there is, IMO. I just looked back at your post, and if you're wanting to set up a camera at the target and have a feedback to your computer...? You should be able to find something. Here are a few options that I know of that may work for ya.

Re: competition gun guys come on in
IMO you just need to get a decent video camera and mount it close to the target (But far enough away to avoid strays or bad shots hitting it), You should be able to get some kind of wireless link-up to view with on a computer.

I agree Dave. If one can find a decent wireless set-up, there's no need to spend that kind of money unless you're needing the quality so you can market the vids or something.

Semi-O/T reference here... Savage Arms is literally minutes from my back yard, and the wife & I pass by every day on our way to work at the best ANG F-15 Fighter Wing in the nation (scroll north from Savage)
