NHRA Unleashed - Tulsa
This week will be a "big trip" out to Tulsa for the second 2011 NHRA Unleashed race. As you may recall, the first Unleashed race did not go so well, with a bad light in R1. I tested quite a bit at the Southern Nationals and Atlanta Lucas oil races and decided to make a drastic move and install 23" front tires on the '58, replacing the 26" ones. I have an extremely fast trans brake, tested various suspension travel settings, tire pressures and RPMs and have settled in on this change. It looks terrible with such a short front tire. It is the reality of a nose heavy...and overall heavy car with stock front suspension. To make it run 9.90 and 10.0, I have it ballasted at 3815#. I will trim it down a little for the 9.50 index.
Anyway....I have a pretty good 9.50 calibration, that will need a slight tweak due to the tire change, but the 605 should give the other 9.50 cars something to deal with. Tulsa will be interesting to see if my additional MPH, recently found, is a fluke or for real.
If anyone is planning to be at Tulsa this next weekend, hope to roll in to town mid-Thursday afternoon.
Originally, I planned to race Unleashed in Tulsa, hang around and run their Lucas Oil Div4 race and then travel on to Belle Rose LA for the next Unleashed event. Due to the recent flood catastophe, the Belle Rose race ( June 17) has been postponed, So I revised my plan. I will now just race the Unleashed, Tulsa event, and head on back to Atlanta.
I hope to see some of my 429-460 buddies out there!

I wont be making it up there, KOV race friday night and thats a get home at 2 in the morning deal lol.
You get your fuel squared away?
Tulsa is a weird track, its got a lot of teeth but most racers seen to slow down up there some.
Should be nice and steamy hot............

Since I will just run the one event, I can tote plenty of fuel for that.
Hot will be good. If the track hooks, but is a little slow, it will also be good. Maybe I can yank more weight out of the trunk!
Thanks,
Keith

Yes...but they will have to determine a reschedule date. The one this coming month was postponed, due to the possibility of flooding.jbozzelle wrote:Keith,

I plan to go later in the year...when they set a new date.
Thanks!
