Well I FINALLY got out to do some shakedown passes. Went to Lapeer Dragway yesterday. I did 5 passes. The right lane was better than the left lane. The second pass I let er rip the full 1/4, I was in the right lane. The 3rd pass I was in the tower (left) lane and had to get out of it between the 1/8th and the 1/4. The car got squirrelly and THAT was an experience Shocked On the second pass it wandered then too but not as bad. So I only did 1/8 after that. It does do some wandering before the 1/8th but is controllable. However I don't like that wandering crap. Not sure why I have this now. The tires are about 2 years old. They are Hoosier Quick Time Pro's 28X11.50X15's. I ran 12 lbs in them yesterday. I've ran that psi before with these and it seemed fine. I would've like to let a little more air out to see if I could better my 60' times but was afraid to because of the wandering. I lowered my shift rpms from 6300 to 5000. That seem to help out on the tire spin. So I plan on getting a regular drag slick now.

I tried to post an et slip but for some reason photobucket won't upload it but I was able to upload a video.

My 60' times ranged from 1.55 to 1.65. my 1/8 times were 6.63-6.66 @ 107.78 mph.

137+ MPH is mid to high nines speed so, I would say the car combination needs to get "worked out" some.

You'll get there eventually.

Mph definitely shows you got the power...just gotta get it off the line! You leaving off the foot brake or transbrake? Stock suspension or ladder bars? A 'real' slick will definitely help IMO.

Foot braking. I wanted to try the transbrake but didn't. I had my hands full with the wandering bit. Stock suspension set up with an anti roll, adjustable upper Edelbrock control arms and some HPM lowers, adjustable rear Competion Engineering shocks, some adjustable front coil overs. Don't know squat about them like brand, the setting etc. The car had all this stuff on it when I purchased it, so I don't know any particulars of what/how/why/where the settings are set to what they are. First thing I'm going to do is get some ET Drags on the rear and some drag front bias tires. It has radials on front now and with the Hoosier QTP's being bias that may be causing some wandering.

Not sure of the weight right now. Before with the 468 D0VE headed engine, C-4, exhaust dumping at the rearend, center console, radio and heater control I weighed it at 3330 with me in it (I weigh 220) I have removed some lbs from the car since. Went to alum SCJ's, removed some interior, the exhaust, cut the motor mount set up and went to front and mid plates, installed a glide. If I had to guess I would say 150 lbs +. Planning on re-weighing hopefully this week.

Not enough toe in, Not enough caster, rear end misalignment and or stiffness/binding in the steering column are a few area's I know of that can cause the car to wander around.

Along with getting real slicks & checking the front end alignment, also check the front suspension geometry for any possible bump-steer problems.

Is it possible that the wandering is actually wheelspin going down track ?? When we first started running Doug's car, we had a similiar issue.

Mike,

Blake and I discussed that possibility. What did you guys have to do to rectify that?

First step for me is to get some new rubber on the rear and the front and get the alignment checked.

I really do appreciate everyones input here. Thanks guys and keep it coming cheers

The radials on the front and the bias ply Hoosiers on the back very well could be the problem.I had radials on the front of my car with MT Et streets on the rear and on some roads you could feel the rear of the car swaying back and forth some.I switched to the MT Bias Sportsman front tires and the swaying went away.

Later Mark.

Do the things that ya'll discussed.Mine is back at the chassis shop Greg convinced me mine is missing a few key pieces and agood geometry work up.I'm no expert but I'll share with you if it works or not. PM me and I'll fill you in on my set up,and what he thinks are the missing links.Don't want to bore everybody here with it again. Really it's Top Secret Squirrel Crap and I don't want Bruno affraid to know before the Bash.I just kept beating my head aginst the wall, could get the car to drive but when I would try and pick it up a bit it would start acting up again.

Take it to Milan, better track prep there. New bigger tires probably wouldn't hurt either. Glad to see it knocking on the door to the 9's. Is your car certified for the 9's?

At 137mph you have a LOT of ET left on the table. I agree a true race slick will help a bunch and once you get all the bugs worked out it should be a mid 9 second ride Cool

Congrats!
