So true. I run both the above pan (like Ky's) and an accumulator. In the shut down the, on the brakes hard, the pressure drops to 20-25 psi and then shoots back up when the accumulator springs into action. The 20-25 is no issue since the engine is not under load.
Re: drag pans!
That is close to the same with oil pressure drop I get with my oil pan David. That is one of the areas you don't hear many talk about , but there are very few pans out there that do not drop to 0 on shut down in a fast car .
If I am remembering back correctly, Lem spent sometime designing this pan to help with oil pressure drop in the shut down. Its just one of the things Lem does he is always trying to come up with something better parts wise for us racers. I think Lem has one of the best deals going in oil pans ,quality and price.

Re: drag pans!
With a fast car and a short track the pressure drop is a fact of life.......all we can do is make efforts to minimize it. A flat bottom pan aint got a chance no matter how many baffles and doors are in it.
Like J.Y. Kelly said......I've had a lot of input on these units but, one good feature the fabricator come up with is that the front floor extends over the rear sump somewhat and effectly becomes the roof of the sump. I feel this really helps the pressure recover very quickly.

Re: drag pans!
Another thing........the tube is 3/4" i.d. not 3/4" o.d. like the 'off-the-rack' stuff. Also I've had the flange made to cover the relief spring plug so it can't be 'spit out'. Also the flange is thicker than the o.t.r. units.
Re: drag pans!
before i got this pan i had a boat pan on it with only one door in it but it worked as well as this one.the "0'n" out at the turn off has'nt hurt it,i dont think, but it cant help it.thanks for the input guys!

Re: drag pans!
That Fabio pan works awesome, so good in fact on this last build I reused all the bearings..........
I do have a 3qt accumulator as well, with the electric valve tied into the ign switch, no dry starts.........30psi warning light never been on........even burning the brakes off of it at the short shutdown Lawton track lol.
The Green oil helps also................
Little tip, don't let the TA 31 clog your inlet screen...I been told it aint good...........

Yep, don't put TA-31 in your pan or dirt in your fuel cell

it's not been a problem for over 200 passes.when you get fast enough you'll see what it's all about.BigDave65 wrote:bruno wrote:so 0 psi is a bad thing at the end of the run

I must have the same Milodon as you, and mine also goes to 0psi under hard braking after a pass. As soon as i touch the throttle it jumps back up though. Do you run it at full 10qt capacity? I think i run around 8qts in mine. Also I run 20w50 Brad Penn oil with the Alky. What are you running?
