Say it ain't so!
Work all week getting car ready for the 2nd trip to the track with my new 557 engine.
It is sounding and running great! Going back for tnt.
The last thing I had to do is check valve lash again. Check passenger side out ok.
Pull driver side and notice a small pin lying on top of the head, look futher and found one side of the
rocker bearing retainer cup too, and it was empty, where are all the other little pins from my crane gold rockers.
Only one side of the rocker lost its pins. Man I am petty down about this, Say It Ain't So!
I did change the old and I did fine about 2 of them so now thats 3 of 30.
I still have the old filter will be cutting it open today! What a stomach ache.
Just thought I talk about it.

Melvin ,take a piece of wire with a magnet on the end of it. Stick it in your drain hole and run the wire around. The pins have to be in the pan. They're too big to go through your screen on your oil sump. Good luck...It sounds like you can sure use some!!

Get them off the engine. Sooner or later others will have the cracked/split bearing cage. The Crane gold and FRRP blue [crane also] with the retainer clips are good rockers.

I had the very same thing happen on a 351-c with the crane gold rockers, but they were some old NASCAR take offs. I think it's just a fatigue thing. I still run the Crane golds.

If the pan is off it'd be a simple matter to inspect the internals of the oil pump.

Melvin you won't regret it. I had a set on the last engine and they were a work of art, and like Randy M told me "You can put them in the will for the grandkids". I know Lem has used more than a few sets too and speaks quite highly of them.

Re: Say it ain't so!
Glad you found 'em OK. Just FYI, next time any steel parts fall into the pan, just use a fairly strong magnet....stick it to the underside of the pan and drag it toward the drain plug hole, then pull it away. The steel parts will follow the magnet to the hole. If you carefully "cover" the entire bottom of the pan, you may find all your junk without a teardown.
