I'm not a Big Block Pro so i'm looking for some ideas and help. I have a 1976 460 out of a Thunberbird and it will be going into a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 FB. I do not want a racer engine, but jsut a nice running reliable engine. I do a lot of car shows and cruise ins.

ok so my questions off hand are:
#1 what is a decent cam to put in the engine that will give a fair idle and low end power? Keep in mind i know this seems redundantly asked question but i've never had to work with performance cams and such. Lift / Duration on the cam?

#2 i'm stripping off the Emissions and going to scrap the intake and motorcraft carb so i'm wondering what a good non EGR intake that is fair on performance? and would a 600 CFM Summit Street / Strip Carb be ok to run on it? or is a 750 really necessary since i dont plan on high RPM, racing/launches..

Opinions on cams are subjective. One guys mild cam is too racey for the next guy. So GENERALLY speaking, if you are looking for something fun to drive on the street, don't get carried away camming it or you'll need to add higher stall converter, gears, etc..

I would say you should stay in the range of about 224 degrees duration at .050, and under .550 lift or so. Edelbrock performer and at least a 750 carb. It doesn't take much to make a fun streeter.
There are several on this board that can guide you into exactly what you want, and sell it to you, build it, grind it for you, whatever you want. They will need much more specific info on your car.

Good Luck

Small Comp Cam Hydraulic Extreme Energy or Lunati Voodo series cam. Stay small in the 2teen's in duration and under low-mid .500's lift on a tighter lobe center and about 10 degrees more on the exhaust.

Edelbrock Performer and a 750 carb

Don't for get a good perfromance timing chain, Headers, Distributor recurve

And Let'er Rip.
