ATTENTION DIESEL TECHS.
2001 F250 7.3 Powerstroke.
Engine shut down after about ten minutes running.
Verified fuel pump relay (inertia switch) and fuse.
It attempted to run with starting fluid, although I only used a small amount.
Towed to my shop and installed a CPS. NO effect.
Direct wired fuel pump and pump runs.
Fuel in the filter canister and under pressure from direct wiring pump.
Verified underhood relays at fuse box.
Double checked ALL fuses and fuel pump relay (inertia switch).
With the use of starting fluid it would start.
Tank, filter and filter cannister clean.
It seems there must be a sensor between the fuel filter cannister and the fuel rail or injectors. The fuel pump will not run through the standard operation of the ignition key switch process.
The "WAIT TO START" light does not glow.
The "SERVICE ENGINE" light is ON.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Dave.

Re: ATTENTION DIESEL TECHS.
DanH, we checked all wiring and PCM system, as far as we could check with ohm/volt meters. If there is a problem within the two you mentioned, we couldn't find it.
Thanks,
Dave.

Re: ATTENTION DIESEL TECHS.
wiggle the engine harness where it crosses over the LH valvecover , they get chaffed inside and can pop the pcm fuse or just have an open internally.

Re: ATTENTION DIESEL TECHS.
rich, I wiggled and attempted to push it together, no improvement. We towed it to Lem's earlier so I didn't take the plug apart for inspection. I do appreciate you guys input, and I would sure like to fix it myself, but right now, that's one iron I can't keep in the fire!
Thanks again,
Dave.

Re: ATTENTION DIESEL TECHS.
its not the connector, the harness itself can be the issue. Also if it has a chip remove it, be sure the ign key is off before you do so.

Re: ATTENTION DIESEL TECHS.
One other thing although this may not have much to offer, the engine would not start when the pump was wired direct. As to the wiring harness, what seems to be the issue with it, broken, insufficient wire or .... ?
