Taller front tires
After several red lights this year I changed the front tire size from 26 inch to 27.5. Lights were from .012 -.030 all night. Third round lined up against track champion and cut a .005 to his .062 and didn't lift enough and ran out. Still kicking myself for that but at the same time the car was spinning every pass and this pass was the best 60 ft of the night and that was the difference. Track was awful but started getting better but left lane was a tenth off. Still a great day and a relief not seeing the big ugly come on!

Better be careful if it quits spinning ..your chances of seeing the big ugly will improve again. Congrats on some killer lights !!

Re: Taller front tires
I know your right. I did bring the convertor up 300 more rpms on the last pass, which I think helped but the .005 was mainly hooking better I think.

You mean Mel? Yes Rodger has been out since the season started. I built him a 429 hyd. cam with the heads he bought the car with. Car runs 10.80's consistent. Needs another convertor or more power but it was budget build to get him back out. He went red yesterday, and was dead late on the buy back.

Re: Taller front tires
a tall front tire will do a lot of good things.i ran last weekend for the first time in a very long time.i have never ran a "box"so i run with the footbrake guys at my local track.first round i dial a 5.45 cuz i ran 46 two times before dark.the other guy was @ 7.10 so i wait..........and wait...then f***ken roll! would'a bet the farm the red was gona be on but it did'nt.that kinda threw me off so i was late,.042.the et was 5.49.with a big tire you can do a lot on the line with your et just makes the light hard to judge.next round i left the 5.45 dial and did'nt screw up on the line and went a 43.
