If you consider P-51's SCJ's then I have a 580 inch engine running them @ 1003 hp.

Re: WHATS THE BIGGEST CI. WITH SCJ HEADS
A guy from AZ. [I think] that use to hang out on the other forum several years ago had a 598" SCJ in a full size Bronco.
Re: WHATS THE BIGGEST CI. WITH SCJ HEADS
Is the question your looking to answer at what CI does the SCJ becone a limiting factor to the combo? I would like to knowth answer to that one only I have 1st gen CJ's I know it depends on the flow #'s on any given head but a ball park for a set of racepreped heads would be what I would be interested in.

Kaase mentioned that a 598 deal would be good for the P51s...

Boss said P-51's wasn't what he was interested in. But I agree with Kasse. (IF THEY ARE PORTED)

572
Our 572 was built by Lawes Mayfield and he did the work on our SCJs. They flowed about as good as a set of P-51s out of the box. Motor made 884 HP (using green oil of course).
My 2 cents worth would be 572 is the upper limit for those heads, maybe a little bigger with a set of Blake's
P-51s.
Bigger than 572 and you need some A-heads

While the A460s are i.m.o. the bang for the buck but, no one should sell the SCJs short. If Bruce's 572" SCJ engine had the same carb, headers and vacuum pump that Blake's 580" P51 engine had it'd be solid over 900 hp.

Re: WHATS THE BIGGEST CI. WITH SCJ HEADS
Can the SCJs be ported to flow as good as a set of ported P51s? Or is ther enot enough port wall available to do it?

Re: WHATS THE BIGGEST CI. WITH SCJ HEADS
I have seen a 572 deal in the summit catalog a year or so ago in a 68 mustang. Seems on the spray it was doing 8.40's and I think low 9's on motor. I had the calander with all the specs because I was doing my 521 SCJ motor, but I have no idea where it is at. Mabe someone else has seen it too. It mad crazy power.

The port within a P-51 head IS an "out of the box" version of a ported SCJ. The ports of an SCJ cannot be made as large as those in a "ported" P-51 without a bunch of welding. Simply because the ports in a head are larger and flow more air, doesn't make it a BETTER head ... the better head would be determined by the application.
The combustion chamber shape and intake rocker stud angles have also been changed on a P-51 head.
