firewall for hatchback stang???
how do you guys who run mustang hatchbacks protect yourself from the fuel cell and pass tech. My car has a cell dropped thru and flush mounted in floor and the fuel filler neck comes out behind license plate so you can fill without lifting hatch. the cell seams to be enclosed in a steal shell. Doesnt that filler neck need to be enclosed somehow or what? battery is now in an enclosed sealed batterybox and vented thru floor so I should be good there. Any thoughts?

Re: firewall for hatchback stang???
I guess since basically the rules want the driver completely separated from any part of the fuel system that if the filler neck tube was exposed/out in the oped in the trunk it could be a problem. But the question here is does something as small as a filler neck really call for a full width bulkhead between the wheel tubs. Or would just covering the neck it's self with a little sheet aluminum be enough to pass tech.
If it was a race-only car with a decent sized cell I wouldn't place the cell under the floor anyway, takes up too much present/future wheelie bar room under the car. In that situation I would have put the cell in the trunk & used a bulkhead. A street driven car on the other hand could go either way, in or under the trunk floor as more room under the rear of the car could be less of a concern.

no, just have the proper blow off disc and vent the bottle outside the car

This is legal, the cell is underneath with a door to get to the filler cap.

If the steel braided line in the pic is a tank vent or return line, it also needs to be separated from the driver & behind/under a firewall/floor since it is part of the fuel system.stanggt wrote:here is what I am working with.
